Posting videos past midnight? Hardcore!
How much was it? And too bad the batteries were out 🙂
I looked into these a while back, and you can get lots of them on ebay. Seeing as they’re pretty easy to make, a lot of people are making them. Variety of qualities, ofcourse. Check youtube for tips on how to make them yourself, also there are people showing off their ebay-sold-helmets on youtube, so you may be able to pick one out of a video to buy, if you want one. There are also a few videos of the newer Deadmau5 helmets made for Deadmou5 himself that are really quite awesome and have very elaborate lighting in them.
Regardless of your like/dislike for Deadmau5, this mask/helmet really is very iconic. Really cool design and just fun.
I think Harrison Krix, aka. Volpin Props, was contacted by Deadmau5 on Facebook a while back about making a helmet, not sure if it ever materialized.
You know, I would agree with you that it is less interesting, but for people who are new to the hobby, it kinda does illustrate that you don’t have to spend 10+ years building the perfect Blade Runner blaster to participate, it is perfectly acceptible to go on eBay and buy a finished product. This series nicely shows people that even the most advanced makers still do the spectrum.
All the way from buying an almost mass produced product (Deadmau5 helmet/head), ordering expensive high-end pieces (Ring-Wraith armor), buying and finishing kits (MKI Iron Man and Rocketeer costumes), making low-cost costumes (No-Face) to scratch machining, sourcing and assembling expensive metal parts over a decade (ZF-1 and Blade Runner).
On videos where people show their collections and costumes, you see a lot of people go “If only I had money/time/space/skills/tools, I would make this/that/the other and it would be awesome”… These videos clearly illustrate that none of those objects are outside their reach, they just need to start looking and start making for it to happen. Like Adam pointed out in the talk from Maker Faire, there are kids in countries all over the world walking around in Iron Man armor built using primarily their allowance and a Pepakura file. =)
Is that pink sticker on the saw in the background Mouser from battle bots?
next video is adam’s home shopping bag 😀
feel the same. kept waiting for the interesting part where i got insight into something other than “you can buy things off ebay”
not one of tested’s shining moments.
kinda bummed out that Norm didn’t try it on. Would have been a cool profile pic
If anything it gave me an idea for my next halloween costume
I want one so bad. where can i find this? does anybody have a link?
