Yay!
That was a great video from start to finish.
Proberbly one of the best interviews Ive every seen!!
Well done gentlemen…and what a gentleman he his.
What an honour to sit and just listen to a film maker of his genius.
I would listen to more! Well done Adam.
Out-fucking-standing!
Definitely one of the best features of the site. That room is perfect for interviews. The books in the background are great to examine while listening to them talk, plus they create just the perfect level of sound damping, with just a touch of reverb to make the voices rich. That deep Landis voice could read me a bed time story anytime.
Even better than expected… those first stories are just mindblowing.
Adam is a fantastic interviewer.
saw John Landis and I clicked, no hestitation
This is maybe the best thing thats been on tested. I hope Adam can talk to more directors, like Guillermo del Toro.
Gif… Jif …. Dr Jekyll… Dr jeeeeeeeeekyll :O
I like this. Another!
Yay! Another “The Talking Room” video with Adam and his guest, John Landis.. 🙂
I’m pretty sure every room John Landis enters is the talking room.
These are so fucking great.
Unbelievable video, hooked from start to finish. Stopped halfway and moved to my TV to watch it in comfort.
Brilliant! Tell me there’s another reel. I could listen to Landis all day long and not get bored. And Adam does a fantastic job of just ever so deftly nudging the raft back into the middle of the stream without getting in the way. James Lipton better look out, Adam could take his chair!
I wish John Landis was my dad.
awesome, great closer
I really enjoyed Bernie also. Very much something out of the box.
I was a bit put out by Landis being critical of corporate movie making, but also seemingly critical of the internet for ruining the monetising opportunities of film making. At the same time we have folks like Kevin Spacey lauding the internet as the way of delivering content directly to the viewers, and how this method is sparking a new golden age of television. The internet isn’t tempering the popularity and monetisation of quality shows like Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones. When will the movie industry catch on?
WOW! Great stuff.
Oh C.K. Dexter Haaaaven!
“The Swearing Room”
John’s ‘bluer’ language is rather at odds to Adams softer style 🙂
Great interview Adam. I see a successful chat show in your future.
Great interview.
I saw some folks mention another…?
I am only guessing that bringing up the Twilight Zone tragedy, even after 30 years was out of the question. I imagine that It would only had brought an awkward and dark moment , and I’m saying this in the most respecful way, not to judge or anything. Being a director myself for engineering projects and managing teams of workers, I would have been interested to understand more what this incident had brought to him in this manner. Again not to judge or anything, I saw yesterday comments bringing this subject being taken out because they were not very nice or with zero tact, and I respect that.
And thanks for the nice interview….
Ben
I too kept waiting for any mention of the Twilight Zone, but then about half way through I realized that there were probably all kinds of legal entanglements that meant it wasn’t going to happen. I’m sure it’s one of those life changing events that affects him every day of his life.
He seems like an interesting guy and I think we’re better for some of his movies.
Great interview. Hope to see more fascinating guests in the future.
After watching this, especially the last 15 minutes or so about the movie making environment and VFX, I would LOVE to see Adam and John Landis sit down with someone like Freddie Wong for a discussion.
Simply sublime.
What a treat to watch Adam and John discuss their passion in such depth. I couldn’t stop watching.
Thank you Tested crew.
It keeps getting better and better every week.
Landis has to be one of the best storytellers in Hollywood.
And his movies are pretty damn good, too. Great interview.
This was fantastic! I can’t wait to see the next one.
The idea isn’t that it’s ruining it, it’s that it’s changing it. That’s what Landis seemed to be getting at. The two ideas aren’t directly at odds with one another, either. When society changes around a business model and that model doesn’t adapt, when looked at from the inside it appears that it’s society that’s ruining the model. Not that the model is going to need to change. Besides, he immediately pointed out that it’s a small and short term problem with “it’ll sort itself out eventually”, and also that movie making business has changed quite a bit.
Really enjoyed watching this, but next time maybe leave the dogs outside? kind of distracting having them demanding attention all the time
2 Dudes / 2 Dogs. This is awesome. Mr. Landis is such a wealth of instant information and history that it make me want to have a filmfest weekend. So many great movies and stories..is there a John Landis Show coming soon…thank you TESTED/Adam for sharing, … who’s next…MORE please. Great interview, great dogs.
Great interview!
Interesting background stories and funny anecdotes out of Landis’ life.
Can’t wait for the next episode of
‘The Talking Room’ !
Absolutely fascinating interview!!! More please!
Fantastic! I love hearing stories about the film industry from this generation of movie makers.
Love the interview, great insight into his career. Should have asked about the “See you next Wednesday” theory, he put it in all his movies.
