SDCC 2014: Sideshow Collectibles Booth Tour

We stop by Sideshow Collectibles’ booth at Comic-Con to check out their new Premium Format Figures, sixth-scale posable figures, and chat with their Creative Director about the company’s approach to new product designs and their new original characters.

  1. Thank you for that video tour of their booth.. 😊

Their new R2D2 figure would look great on my coffee table.

Hmmmm.. Where did I put my Visa?

  2. Sideshow’s work is getting better and better while my wallet is getting lighter and lighter.

I also have R2 on preorder. Imperial Probe Droid is about to start shipping- really looking forward to that one.

    SPEEDER BIKE AND SCOUT!

  3. Great Vid, got the R2 on pre-order also. I’m really pleased to see sideshow actively showing interesting in creating more models.

  4. “The thing about these sculptures is that they’re all cloth”

*cut to a sculpture with hardly any cloth at all!*

  5. I love what SS is doing but I’m stuck between their products. I don’t have a dedicated room with open shelves to keep 1/4 scale PFs but I’m not a fan of the Hot Toys type 1/6 scale pose-able figures.

I prefer the 1/6 scale statues and they don’t seem to have many of those. Probably why all of my statues are from other companies.

  6. OMG that Raynor model that they glanced past briefly looks amazing. To bad its only 1/6th scale. As I have really grown fond of 1/4th and 1/3rd scale stuff lately.

  7. Don’t mean to sound like a curmudgeon but for the price of these things, as great as the are, I really wish they were made in the USA and not China. Not usually like that but for some reason that really turns me off with these pieces. These really could be made profitably here in the US or Canada or Japan or almost anywhere else but China.

I do think they’re wonderful but I don’t think I’d buy one if they are made exclusively in China.
