Adam Savage’s Alien Spacesuit Replica
Before we went to Comic-Con, we visited Adam in his shop to get an up close look at his replica ‘Kane’ spacesuit from Alien. At this point, Adam was just about to complete the 10-year project of building the suit in anticipation for his Incognito walk at SDCC. Here, he describes each of the unique components he obsessed over fabricating in this dream project.

That was fantastic!
I especially liked the part where Adam gives his Alien suit a loving embrace. At that moment, you can tell just how much time and effort went into making this suit a reality. And how after all of these years of working on it, it’s finally complete.. 😆
I was confused as to why Adam used a “Dallas” nameplate in the final version that walked the floor. Maybe the “Kane” one fell off or got lost?
The suit on display at the Incognito party had a Kane nameplate.
When he switches on the fan the top light flickers off for a moment, a sign of the problems to come….
I, too, am curious as to why the Dallas nameplate was used, when walking the floor.
I give Adam huge credit with the patience and attention to detail. A couple years into the build he could have easily crudely built the rest of the suit and called it done. Looks amazing!
Now I’m wondering if Adam has ever had a celebrity swing by, see a costume he made and have it be one that they have worn? Then model the costume for a quick photo.
Regarding the nameplate, he had the “Savage” nameplate on the suit originally and swapped it out for the “Kane” nameplate before SDCC, and they filmed the majority of this video before the convention.
Adam’s comic con wear always
impresses but I do wonder if the complexity and professional look of Adams’ costumes
make it easier to spot him on the floor.
IE: the better the costume,
the closer to actual screen use, the
better the chance it is ADAM SAVAGE.
that photo is the best!
Like Adam, when I saw it, I just had to smile…
But in this video it says “Dallas.”
Adam gone have a lot of facehugger soon, after the busting news tonight!
The pump in my cool shirt crapped out 30 minutes into a 2 hour stint in an Enduro in 90 degree heat last year. It was the hardest 90 minutes of driving I’ve ever done.
We never did get to see the photos in the binder. 🙁 Need another video of Adam just going through his reference pics.
STILL no answer to the Dallas/Kane nameplate mystery… It shouldn’t bug me but boy it does.
nice picture
I love the detective work in researching what went into making a prop.
I had always assumed they were cricket pads on the suit legs… it looks like they’re custom made parts though.
I have a funny idea that they may be old school wicket keepers pads judging by the size of them.
