Aging Suit Simulates Experience of Old Age
Speaking of conceptual transhuman experiences, here’s video of an “aging suit” that simulates the experience of being 75 years old. The Atlantic’s James Hamblin tests this exoskeleton, which limits movement, impairs hearing, and blurs vision (to approximate cataracts). It’s the latest invention of technologist (and ex-Imagineer) Bran Ferren’s Applied Minds, and is intended to get people talking about issues around aging and long-term care.

I can’t seem to take my ageing suit off 🙁 it’s starting to look retro.
Really neat technology here, just kinda wish the guy in the suit wasn’t so persistently flippant and disrespectful through the whole video.
This is not what it is like to be old it is what it is like to be young and strong fighting a suit for control.
It’s good research but it’s not what they claim it is. You are still young inside the suit, you are fighting the suit, not your own body and your body is still just as strong, your heart pumps just as fast and your muscles work just the same as they always did, your mind is just as sharp and your control over your body just as as acute.
AGREED. Clearly the researchers thought him a millennial idiot…
Before you put the suit on they need to give you a drug that makes every joint in your body ache. Won’t be so fun then.

Ford always had ageing suits, obviously not this advanced as it’s been in use for a number of decades , but it was used to test ingress and egress and overall vehicle design
