Adam Savage Meets Machination Studio’s Codename Colossus!
Adam gets up close with Codename Colossus, a mechanized walking robot designed, prototyped, built, and painted by Michael Sng (aka Machination Studio). Michael and Adam chat about toy design, 3D printing, and garage kits. We couldn’t stop geeking out about this robot!

That is a really lovely aesthetic: it reminds me a bit of Katsuhiro Ôtomo’s “Cannon Fodder” segment from Memorîzu.
Awesome — reminds me a bit of the old metal robot toys.
I think I like the small machines guns near the “helmet” the best since they vibrate and seem to even sound realistic.
I want the cluster of 4 machine guns (that do the “Star Wars gun” thing) to snap back a little more quickly (like recoil) and then return to their extended position more slowly (asymmetrical – probably involving a cam or a partial gear + spring).
Beautiful aesthetics.
I too have to have one of these! It’s beautiful. And his story is inspiring. I too am a graphic designer and I’m basically a self taught 3d generalist (took 2 3d modeling classes in college) and 3d maker.
SO COOL! Reminds me of something right out of the Metal Slug series.
Magnificent!
really sweet!!!
“Alternate universe WWI” for those not familiar this is called Dieselpunk
A must Have !
Beautiful!
I wish Tested would start doing one day build videos agaain. They were my favorite.
Walking tanks are always great. Much better than the sleek anime robots.
I learned about the Colossus through Michael Sng’s post on /r/gunpla, and I have to say I think it look incredible. It has a really cool design that reminds me of things like Maschinen Kreiger.
