Testing Camera Gear with Adam Savage
Adam and Norm talk about photography as a hobby and review the Metabones Speed Booster, a new lens adapter connects Canon full-frame lenses to Sony’s compact cameras. With side-by-side photo comparisons, we show why this is a piece of hardware that is very exciting for Adam’s needs.

Loving the camera knowledge!
Great video, would love to see you guys geek out over more stuff 🙂
Read a positive review of the Metabones adapter on DP review as well. I’m looking forward to the MFT version coming out in March. (I hope it’s not $600) Also: watch out for dust issues on those Rokinons, Adam. I’ve read that the dust and moisture seals on these lenses are their primary points of failure. Once you get dust or fungal growth between the elements it’s game over for the lens.
I’d love to have a look at Adam’s full lens collection, I’m currently in my second year of a Bsc in Photography Digital Imaging, and a freelance photographer (to pay my way through the degree) and I love the fact that cameras/lenses have been getting more coverage of late on the site.
While I sometimes get a little irked by certain technical explanations, I study imaging on a whole other level of geekiness so it would be unfair to expect them to break stuff down into the nitty gritty stuff that I deal with day to day. Because lets face it, everyone else would probably find it mind numbingly boring, (hell even I do sometimes.)
However… Still. Awesome.
Continue the great work guys!
in the wide shots its really hard to tell what cameras are on the table, I was really hoping the big one was a RED EPIC or SCARLET.
I’m wondering what everyone here feels about the vignetting produced by this adapter. From the stills in the other article, it doesn’t seem too distracting. Still, I prefer to not have it if I can avoid it, and have only added it in post if I feel it adds to the image. Are you willing to overlook the vignetting for the other benefits of pairing this adapter with high-end glass?
Also, this video was mentioned on sonyalpharumors (http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/). Imagine my surprise when I saw a wild Chan appear on another site I regularly check for camera news.
Mind Blown when they explained that adapter.
For some reason I’m seeing absolutely nothing where the video should be.
Yeah, me too.
Me too! No video just blank spot. I am using my iPad.
