  1. It works for me..

    Will brings it home!

As a member of #TeamNorm, I am still proud of how he pushed on even though he started this with a major disadvantage..

  2. somehow it broke overnight, it worked fine at 2AM pst but it wont buffer for me at 10AM PST

Edit: It started to buffer 5-7 mins in and now it works..

  3. 1. Loved the month of builds. Great videos, hope to see more.

    2. Loved the competition build concept.

    3. The Lego build “inspired” me to spend around $700 on Lego sets in the past two weeks. Hope to never see more Lego builds as I’m sure I’ll be “inspired” again.

4.. Ignore the last point, loved the Lego build, hope to see more Lego videos.

  4. Grats to Will with the victory! It was really fun watching the various builds all month. Still resisting the urge to buy the paper craft. Love how much detail the Sandcrawler has.

  5. What disadvantage did Norm have at the start? He was in the lead until he opened the wrong bag / forgot a bag. His tiredness left him incapable to fight back.

Next time I would prefer if the episodes would be recorded over the span of more days.

I loved the papercraft video the most. Really tempted to try that for myself as well.

  6. I must say i am going to miss the month of builds. It was a nice augment to the existing level of content on the site. Though I am sure it was a huge burden to all this created ahead of time along with the additional content while trying to get prerecorded pod casts done while the Mythbusters live tour is going on.

  7. Lack of sleep.

Norm had to drive back from #SDCC, while Will quickly flew back, and was fully rested going into this. As Norm said, he only had three hours of rest when this started. He was expecting an easy day of LEGO building, only to have this race sprung on him at the last second.

I feel that his lack of sleep lead to mistakes which ended up costing him as time went on. I was glad that they ended up building on seperate days, which did allow him to build on a level playing field.

    .

I would like to see them do this again, but do it where both guys know what is going to happen from the start. I would also like to see them build Lego, but do it without the paywall. That way all of those people on Youtube who threw a fit over this being only for Premium members, can watch too..

For the record, I don’t care who won. I was just along for the ride, enjoying every single moment of this build.

  8. I would love to see more big Lego build offs in the future. The B-Wing one would but fun to see next since it sounds like you guys have the sets, All 12 episodes were great.

  9. Yeah team Will. Great build. Would love to see a Lego city diorama. With all the different city kits spread out aver an entire table. Then the guys can test stop motion, or time lapse through it. Mini Movie Style.

  10. IMHO, LEGO *must* be involved in future builds.

This build was more enjoyable to watch than all of the other builds (in the month) combined. Not that there was anything wrong with watching you build Japanese Papercraft, a drone, or the 3D Printer.

    Just saying. 😆

  11. Because of this Lego build, my husband and I bought An Unexpected Gathering (Bag End from The Hobbit) and we’ve slowly been putting it together. Thanks for the inspiration!

  12. Might be fun to take one of these to the next level by adding real lights, rc controlled motorized treads and a sound track. Integrate all those things via 3d printed parts to hide the mechanics. Will just mentioned traveling with a B Wing. How about a B Wing travel box build?

Loved the month of builds and hope they are a frequent feature.

  13. Fantastic build, I’m going out to get one of these kits.

Looking back through lots of older videos, you guys don’t drink anywhere near as much as you did in the previous office…

  14. I really enjoyed every part of the build month! It made me realize how little time I spend on hobbies these days due to work and such. So I ordered a Printrbot Kit to relight those ol’ rusty synapses. I’ll let you know how this worked out for me 🙂

    More of this!

  15. GONK!

I really enjoyed this Month of Building experience, you guys cost me a lot of free time, but I really enjoyed watching all the videos. It would be really cool to see more of these long form builds in the future. But like noted a few times before, it would be nice if the build itself was spaced out oer a few days so the banter and conversation doesn’t die away half way through the video’s.

Keep it up guys. On to the B-Wing!

  16. Yeah, I’m having an issue too. It will play in 360P, but screw that. I’m going to wait until it plays in 1080P.

  17. I went back and watched the first few episodes, and I was wrong. Norm mentioned having had six hours of sleep in the prior three days leading up to this LEGO race. Not the three hours that I said above.

Just to clear that up.. 😊

  18. Congrats Guys…build and with so much fun time…its kind a like we build together..Congrats for the winner Will.Well done. Nice job for everyone there…hope we ll see you soon with another build.Thks so much..

    Regards

  19. Really enjoyed this guys. I decided to open and build my Cuusoo Delorean during this last episode. I was keeping it but *needed* to build something new. Coupled with a nice local (craft) ale it was a nice evening.

Thanks and I am looking forward to future builds.

  20. Had fun watching this, but it was nowhere near as good and entertaining as Bricked. If you do this again I would really like to see challenges come back in some form.

  21. Really enjoyed the builds a great mix of the hobby / craft builds and tech builds.
Would love to see more RC builds and Lego.
I like the week long format (well almost with the lego!) great when you have a daily commute like me

  22. I really enjoyed the month of a thousand builds!

The LEGO competition was a nice revival of the classic (though sadly missing the challenges), but I think I enjoyed the paper craft build the most – Something new for me and it inspired me to by a Sankei kit, which I thoroughly enjoyed building.

I think it’s amazing how you’re able to make a show that’s entertaining even to people who aren’t really into the stuff you’re building. My wife’s proof of that – She’s really hooked now and very disappointed that there won’t be anymore build shows for a while now.

I’d definitely would like to see more LEGO builds – But preferably not with the one day rush setup. Also, you really should bring back the challenges!

Don’t know about the city stuff – Some of those kits are for ages 16 and up, and with the problems the guys were having at times with this 14+ kit…

  23. The video in the embedded player won’t play for me, but the full download link works (and plays progressively in Chrome, so is a suitable alternative)

  24. Awesome series fellas, really enjoyed following along. I’ve got an idea for next time around, now its kinda crazy but what about you two tackle making a song? I think that could be pretty good informative entertainment. Get your hands on a DAW, some drum software and a couple of synthesizers and go nuts! The software these days does all the hard yards, all you have to do is pick your rythms from libraries, sync the synth to the DAW and have at it 😀

  25. It wouldn’t load for me either, after several tries, I downloaded it, which opened the MP4, buffered, and played! K’pla! Another grand build rolls to its inevitable conclusion.

What happened with the quad-flier? Did they get it to work? How well is the printer printing now? Could you print a printer on the printer?

How about a ‘show and tell’ about each of the things that were built in the month, to savour once more, and for the benefit of the poor citizens who did not pay for the premium content?

  26. After the last Lego build-off. I ended up with a Death Star and a bricklink sourced Millennium Falcon.

After the month of builds my Printrbot arrives today.

These builds are costing me $$$.

Love it. My wife? Not so much…

  27. Wow, finally got through it, congrats. Next time you do a month of builds, I suggest more paper Craft like the Sankei kit. Smaller Lego series’ would be appreciated. My wife proclaimed me the most boring guy in the world for watching 2 guys build Legos. Was entertaining and made me get out and buy a few kits for my family.

  28. Mr. Smith, your two 1×4 Bley plates belonged inside the tread mechanisms. Either Page 162 or Page 172 of the instruction manual, first figure (#8) in both situations. It also looks like you have a few too many of the Black 4140801 piece left over that you probably missed placing somewhere, but I can’t for the life of me remember where they might belong. You also have a pair of Tan 1×1 Bricks that you missed in Step 28 on page 53.

I wish I could offer similar comments to Mr. Chan, but we were not given such a glorious robotic presentation of his spare pieces 🙂

It has been an… interesting couple weeks watching you guys blunder through this build, all while shaking my fist and shouting at my computer, but it was nice to see everything more or less come together at the end as mistakes get fixed. I look forward to the next LEGO build you do!

  29. High five for myself for watching all 12 parts! It took longer than expected, but I powered through it. Good job, you 2. I loved the month of building and can’t wait for the next one. I’ll definitely still be subscribed!

  30. Because of this Lego build, my husband and I bought An Unexpected Gathering (Bag End from The Hobbit) and we’ve slowly been putting it together. Thanks for the inspiration!

I just picked up this very same set (#79003) last night on Ebay.

Everywhere that I searched online, had nothing but glowing reviews for this LEGO set. So, I went and bought one.

I can’t wait to put it together.. 😊

  31. Suggest you guys have a sign or flip-calendar on the wall or the camera to remind you what day it is for these multi-day builds.

  32. I’m sorry guys but I gotta disagree with 12 episodes of Lego building being great. If it had been edited DOWN from all 12 into something 90 mins 2 hours long with the high points that might have made a different impression. Did not watch from start to finish but skimmed a few different eps, most of the time it failed to capture my attention. Did watch the full initial and #11 and #12 just didn’t capture what I had expected from previous Tested vids. Maybe I missed gold skimming but 12+ hours watching a Lego build, yeah sorry I am a boring person with no life and a nonexistent social life but I just can’t commit to this. The above it my take your mileage may vary, this is just a comment about me.

  33. So yeah. That happened. (skip to the last paragraph for my suggestion)

If one looks at the videos as a long conversation between Norm and Will, then it accomplishes that well. But now that I’ve watched them I have to say it doesn’t make for good TV, to borrow a term. I get it, that they didn’t intend for it to take as long as it did. I also recognize that it’s probably unique content, and therefore a risk. Most Lego build videos seem to be done at high speed, which is probably a better format.

I have been enjoying the workshop builds more, but watching someone build Lego, I’ve decided, is not something I’d choose to pay for. Er… um…. more than I already have.

    Positives! There are many!

First, congrats to Will & Norm for a huge effort. Two full days of “fun” isn’t necessarily as fun as one might like (by the end). Well, for Norm anyway. (grin)

Secondly… I was thinking that I’d try my hand at making a stop-motion film of a Lego set, self-assembling. I’ll start with one of the tiny ones: The give-away “Mini Cooper” (59 pieces) shall be my first attempt. Why? Perhaps I was inspired by Will & Norm? Who knows. I did come up with the idea in the middle of watching these videos… so yay!

Also, Will had mentioned his favourite site a few times: The huge R2-D2. I’m feeling tempted. 🙂 I blame Will.

A condensed version would probably be better for showcasing the Lego. The full length version is more like an extended conversion which will be brought up as Exhibit 7 when Norm is brought to trial for the infamous “brick murders” of 2015.

FINAL Note: Building Lego is personal entertainment, but isn’t strongly “creative” if you’re following the instructions. As a result the build itself was…. predictable. (read: only mildly entertaining). On the other hand, a build such as Norm’s arcade cabinet or (especially) the multitude of Adam’s builds are hugely more interesting to me. I recommend that future Premium videos focus more on creative builds (which are really exercises in problem solving and artistry) and less on assembling kits. That’s just my opinion, I could be wrong.

  34. Anyone else noticed in this episode they have switched cameras? the one that has been watching Norm has been washed out on the colours whereas Wills camera have been more richly coloured, but in this video its been switched. Also, bit annoyed the higher res video is broken 🙁
