Premium: Norm Tours the Museum of the Moving Image
Here’s some more behind-the-scenes testing, this time with the new DJI Osmo handheld stabilized camera. While I was in New York, I stopped by the Museum of the Moving Image–one of my favorite places to visit in NYC. (The museum has an upcoming exhibition that will feature a piece by Adam, too!) For those who’ve never been, here’s a walking tour of the museum’s “Behind the Screen” exhibition that chronicles different aspects of filmmaking. Be sure to come back next week as we start another set of Weeks of Build!

I was just there last weekend! It was my first visit but it’s now one of my favorite museums. I’ll definitely be back to see the exhibit with Adam’s work in it.
Not sure if it was Norm’s camera handling or the way the DJI Osmo stabilized the camera, but the whole video felt like the camera was on a rail system on a rocking boat. I could have done with a few stops here or there so the camera (and my eyes) could actually focus on something. I’d be curious to see how the Osmo handles going between ambulatory movement and stationary camera work (locking the camera’s orientation for “tripod” shots).
I agree, I have never suffered from motions sickness, ever never ever, but I swear I was almost feeling queasy during that video. I stopped half way through it was just feeling that odd. I hope it wasn’t the camera mount because if it was they will be getting a lot of returns.
