Making a Working BB-8 Droid Replica!
Ever since BB-8 first made its appearance in the first Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser, droid builders have been trying to figure out how to make their own working replica. We visit the shop of Mike Senna, veteran robot builder, to follow his progress creating his own BB-8.

Wait…dose Norm wear the same shirt in two different colors in the two parts of the video shot months apart?
Great video!
Aaand,. now I want to make one of those aswell,. haha
Great finishing on that head. And it moves nicely, can’t wait to see version 2, when you are perfectly happy with the drivemechanics 🙂
I’ve started #notbuildingBB8, and so far it is going well. I think I have gone through 4-5 kg of filament and still have most of the ball to print. I have found that the finishing is the most time consuming. Unlike Mike in the video, I printed with 6-8 shells and am sanding to get the desired finish
I love it. Droids are cool. It would be cool if the tested team could build a Mouse droid for like a one day build or something. :p
It’s so much easier, all you need is a crappy beach ball and a salad bowl (it looks better than the one on screen)
