Tested in the High Arctic, Day 7
Over a week into our trip, and Norm starts suffering some problems launching the DJ Inspire One. It’s time to problem solve. Back on the ship, we chat with Tom Scott about his adventures exploring the city of Qaanaaq.

Wow, cool. Any chance at getting the link to the video?

Holy Cow! That was my Birthday too!
(I know that’s not that incredible because the odds are 1:365.25 that I’d share a birthday with him, but still)
Also, I must now investigate Infrasound Detection..
This video player makes me nuts! I’ve got an 1Gbit connection and all it does is switch quality every minute :@
So, what was up with the Inspire? And how was that Phantom faring at the times when the Inspire didn’t work?
Tom Scott brilliant guy. I am watching his channel all the time
On behalf of us Aussies, apology accepted, Tom. Just promise you won’t nuke us anymore!
Awsome!
IMU Initialization crippled the inspire for most of the rest of the trip. we think it was related to temperature, but couldn’t replicate the problem back onboard the ship. the phantom had no problem making its flights!
That’s kinda weird — YouTuber’s running into one another on far flung tours. Is this the brave new world? I’ll checkout his video.
Oh *that* Tom Scott! I like his videos too!
Tom Scott explained it in one of his videos: Basically Quark Expeditions asked Commander Hadfield if he would come onto the KK for a speaking fee. He said he wouldn’t do that, but he would in exchange for 12 berths aboard ship. Norm and Joey were among those invited to come along. The normal guests paid about $25,000 for this same experience (!)
The craziest thing about this expedition I’ve seen has been seeing Tom Scott on Tested, and seeing Norm and Joey in Tom Scott’s videos.
Man ,that’s a pity. Did the DJI guys have an idea on what happened and why the phantom didn’t suffer? I wonder if it was faulty hardware or if every inspire would suffer the same issues in similar circumstances.
You did capture some amazing shots for as long as it lasted, though 🙂
I watched Tom’s video about this, and it was fun seeing this sort of behind-the-scenes about it too 🙂
It’s a bargain- there’s a two-week sailing the North Pole for only $27,995.
Awesome. I love Tom’s videos, fun to see him on a Tested vid. I like it when my internet friends get together.
Everyone forgetting Project: MOGUL?
