I think it’s time for a little pixelated Jeremy sprite to find his way onto the video intro animation …. Great review
Seriously considering getting one of these. Would prefer to play on PC but this is much more more reasonably priced when you consider that these are first gen products that’ll probably end up replaced by something significantly improved not too soon and possibly (and hopefully) something more standardised (at least on PC). Seems like much better ergonomic design too.
Of course, games will probably end up with higher prices because console so might even out the price I guess…
Looking forward to videos about some of the games!
When I tried out PSVR at Comic Con, I also had some tracking issues that Jeremy alluded to (I was playing the Batman game). It definitely gave me motion sickness first time. I went and tried again and my experience was much better. Not sure if this means the tracking experience is inconsistent at best. Will be interested in a follow up.
Tracking is Rough!!…And Sony’s to Blame!!… They’ll give VR a Bad Name!!! (cue guitar)
Seriously though, I hope they didn’t ruin mainstream VR.
Thank you for putting this up. I’ve been struggling to find more detailed info about the PSVR, this video is perfect. A great “layman terms non-marketing buzz words” introduction to the hardware and software.
I did wonder if camera position has anything to do with tracking loss?
I saw at 13:22 the camera was less than a meter away at Jeremy’s knees, later in the video it was mentioned that sitting games didn’t suffer from the issue (where the headset was further away and lower).
If the camera position was changed to ensure it had a better view/angle of the room & PSVR lights would the tracking improve?
However I’m not sure what the instructions are to setup, traditionally the user is asked that the PS camera is low and facing the floor as most AR games use a ground plane.
Jeremy, PC gaming has never been on the decline.
I did a double take when I heard that and had to seek back to check. Not sure what made him think that was the case.
and V: Oh, man. The PC Master Race has been on me at every turn since I said this. I just meant to say that the mass market is on console, and PSVR has the potential to bring VR to a much wider audience.
personally starting to be pretty bored with VR, kinda like there is nothing else going on on tested anymore.
