Tested: HP Omen 17 Gaming Laptop
We’ve been testing the HP Omen 17, the first laptop we’ve tested running on Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1070–a full powered Pascal GPU. That means this is truly a desktop replacement: a portable powerhouse that can run full roomscale virtual reality off of just one AC power outlet. But there are some tradeoffs that allow this fast gaming PC to be priced at just $1500.

thanks for the review. any chance of getting a look at Razer’s offerings?
or any VR capable laptop would be great, but Razer’s seem closest to what an apple laptop would be like if they gave a crap about graphical performance outside of their own UI needs.
The USB port dropping has been a problem on laptops for years, the driver for the ports cannot source or sink the same current on all ports, at the head of the chain it’s fine but at the tail it’s kinda janky – probably still in spec, but on the margin.
I have seen this with external audio cards, plug it in, and it works ok, then falls over, swap ports it reinstalls and works fine.
No remarks on the heat/ventilation? Nothing kills a laptop’s lifespan faster than poor heat management and desktop replacement or gaming laptops are typically the worst of the bunch.
Voodoo pc’s were amazing. It’s to bad HP got a hold of them.
Am planning on buying an HP OMEN 17 Core i7-8750H with NVIDIA 2080 G-SYNC anti feature this summer. I am still looking for where I can get it for the best price. The article has really gotten my interest. I am going to bookmark your blog and keep checking for new details every week. Open this link to reach my website and check out its contents. Please let me know if this okay with you. Many Thanks!
