Quick Look at LG’s 43-Inch 4K Monitor

How big is too big for a desktop computer monitor? Norm lives with LG’s 43-inch 4K monitor for a month, and shares his experience using it for daily web browsing, photo editing, and gaming. The extra screen real estate of the 43UD79-B takes getting used to, but there are some tradeoffs.

  1. I have a 43″ 4K Philips monitor at work and I think that would work better with a bit of curving for better visibility of the side edges. Still love mine and would never GP back.

  2. No idea how you can use a monitor that big! I tried using my 32 inch tv when I first built my PC and I couldn’t do it. Too much for me. I feel like 27-28 is my sweet spot.

I just went on a monitor quest myself. I wanted to see if I could find low cost 4K monitor for my One X. I picked up LG’s 27UD58-B. I decided to return it after only a few days. I discovered that color representation is a thousand times more important to me than resolution. The 4K LG looked a lot better than my cheapo Samsungs, but dull and flat compared to my old Ultrasharp. Given my budget, I ended up ordering a 1080p 16:9 Ultrasharp for my Xbox.

  3. Hey Norm,

Very cool review I was just wondering what your thoughts about the 34in curve monitor (as I was looking at either this monitor or the 43in monitor you just reviewed) ? I currently have a Dell 2711 and was looking to upgrade and was wondering if it was a gimmick or not. 🙂
