It Might Work: Simone’s Habit Calendar

Simone’s latest project is a physical manisfestation of her ability to keep her schedule organized. But making this Habit Calendar is going to require wiring up hundreds of switches, and Simone comes up with a clever way to add efficiency to her build.

  1. Very impressive and slick looking. Sort of intimidating, too.
You pretty much have to maintain your habits now. How annoying would it be to have one month that isn’t lit up?
Maybe it would be cool to have a version in which the light for the month glows brighter or dimmer depending on the number of days you stuck to the habit. Bright light = you did great. Dim light = you pooped it.
Now I know how to properly glue acrylic parts. Thanks!

  2. wow, enforcing good habits by linking must-have-completeness AND the pleasurable act of flipping a switch, and then going for full months as the reward period… you are hardcore. like, seriously.

also, i think i need something kinda like this in my life. but not for full months, or it’ll just be a despair dispenser.

  3. Very cool, Simone. Flipping switches is fun, and this project distills that nicely. Looks like you finished this earlier this year. How has this been working out for you?

  4. Holy crap you have some patience, Simone. Which is great because it turned out so nice!

And don’t let them drag you back to the dark ages with their imperial nonsense! Metric is the only way!

  5. Ravengael

I was thinking a red light slowly brightening, then a green light if it’s complete.

  6. What if you have to maintain more than one abit? more than a calendar? My room may look like I always wanted! 🙂

    Simone BE METRIC!

  7. New Simone video, whoop! That build looked soul destroying, but the end result was cool. Hope it fulfills it’s purpose.

  8. I think you could get hold of buttons that lights up when pressed so each day could glow.

But more important: There should be a big light in case you manage to do every month. Like a year light 😀

  9. Second ONLY to my great love for winsome Swedish gals in overalls who — on occasion — make poor robots– IS my love of switches.

Clearly an odd affliction. But relatively harmless. Unlike some of your robots.

I love those little SPST short bat switches, they feel very nice. You’ve got several neat rows of them. Nice. As a Swede, you will note that by mid-October you will have enough light to read by during the darkest months…

Now let us hope you will master your habits!

  10. Oh god, I just realized how to make it even more tedious… Switches that light up. V2 maybe, huh Simone? xD
