Let’s Build: Multi-Material 3D Printing, Part 1
We’re fans of the Prusa i3 3D printer, and its latest featureset is especially exciting. Jeremy and Sean begin the upgrade process to turn the i3 into a multi-material 3D printer that can print with up to 4 filaments at once!

I am soooo wanting a MK3 as my first printer, really awesome to see builts like this, it’s helping me prepare for building all of it myself. You two are making the most awesome video’s at the moment for me, thanks a lot!
The only downside about all of this is… the waste, really would like to have a cheap way to recycle all the plastic as I don’t want to add to the plastic waste even more so.
Hello, Just saw your comment about recycling plastic. I just happen to be looking at this site call Precious Plastic. They are recycling plastic in various form. Maybe this can help. Here is the link: https://preciousplastic.com/
Thanks! Will check it out.
I mainly print in PETG on a PEI bed. No problems with adhesion or wrapping. Spot on tolerances. Easy to clean up. I use PLA for prototypes or printing at high speed when I am in a rush. ABS I use only for small parts that need extra heat resistance.
PETG on PEI is a great combination. Just be careful with TPU (Ninjaflex) on PEI, it won’t come off unless you use glue stick or painters tape on top of the PEI.
Orange is definitely an underappreciated color.
I’m with you guys; I received my MK2S in September, and the MMU I ordered in October. I’ve found that the Bondtech gears in the extruder motors really are sensitive to small diameter materials and like to grind the material and not advance it.
Blue Blazer Irregular checking in!
The best thing about the way Prusa does the online instructions is the comments. Comments saved me a dozen times.
