Tesla Cybertruck Test Ride and Impressions!
We ride in Tesla’s newly announced Cybertruck prototype! Just hours after its highly-anticipated unveiling, we meet up with Ryan McCaffrey of the Ride the Lightning Tesla podcast to discuss details we noticed from our test ride and getting up close with this futuristic electric pickup. It’s controversial and aggressively designed, with an aggressive price to boot.

From where do the airbags deploy?
I guess that as someone who values utility and economy over luxury and status I am just not the target market for trucks in the US and I am going to have to do like Simone and build my own.
it’s funny how simone’s truckla preemptively took all the air out of that elon-ego-mobile.
When they said truck (what we call a ute, short for Utility) I was expecting something you would be able to throw building supplies into. Aside for its looks, this doesn’t appear to have a great deal of space in the rear, to haul the gear, which is the main point behind a truck, isn’t it?
This completely fails as a pickup truck on so many fundamental levels. Aside from towing capacity, all the hype about this being an F150 killer falls completely flat to anyone that has owned a truck. The bed on this “truck” is almost functionally useless. It’s physically impossible to reach the tie down points closest to the cab without being in the bed, and you can only get into the bed from the center rear (or completely taking down the tailgate). They showed no additional storage compartments in the bed, which is a big thing on newer trucks, and something the Rivian is trying to push in a unique way. Finally, there’s no practical way to put on and access a bed tool box on that thing.
If Tesla as a company wants this to actually disrupt the truck market in the US, and sell to more than the very limited rich Tesla bro market, they have to go back to the drawing board.
This is a very dumb vehicle and Elon breaking the window on stage is a perfect summary of it.
It’s more of an El Camino than a truck. Stepdads will buy it.
The one thing I do like about it is all the flat surfaces just begging for customizations. You could really do something pretty creative with it if you’re the kind of person who has that kind of money to throw away.
To paraphrase A Christmas Story, someone is going to poke an eye out.
Pity that Simone did not pick up Norm with her truck and join him at the viewing.
What is the towing capacity?
Simone Giertz, smart, pretty, and can build a better truck than Tesla.
Some people are complaining about a lack of functionality, so here are some details:
I forget to add the built-in air compressor.
Trion gets it, this truck is a game changer. The first 15 min after seeing it I hated it…. then I fell in love. The high sides on the tailgate are inconvenient for reaching over… but also give you the ability to load and go with minimal need to tie down. I’m here for the 80’s future it’s about time we realize it’s 2019. All other specs destroy truck standards…plus that low center of gravity. .if nothing else..over 100 years of truck design and Elon musk is the first to eliminate the riding b seat lol
1) was that truckla at around 9:45
2) whats with the extra from the Expanse at 11:35?
