2. Proxxon seems to be one of those hit-and-miss companies.

   I have their hotwire table for doing models out of EPS foam, which works well. I’ve heard (tho not experienced personally) that their tablesaw isn’t so good.

4. I discovered the Proxxon rotary tool about 3 years ago. My old tool enjoyed breaking its drive spring so often that I had a bin of them. I finally got tired of buying them and got the Proxxon. It’s easy to tell that it’s much better made because it is unbelievably quiet. No vibration. No broken springs.

   Why aren’t they all made this way? I wouldn’t use anything else now.

5. I love my Guinever Motor for mid size sanding jobs. King Arthur’s Tools makes quality stuff. The Guinever runs with very little noise.

   It’s crazy, but in German hardware stores (the huge ones), Dremel puts so much marketing into their shelf space, and they are more expensive than Proxxon. Until I heard you talk about them about ten years ago, I thought Proxxon where the cheap knock-offs. I’m sure other people have the same impression. I’m yet to buy either a Dremel or a Proxxon though. A german hardware store chain sold a no-name black plastic actual knock-off (is that really how you write it?) With looots of accessories at that time for just 14.99€, and it’s been working perfectly so I can’t justify upgrading

8. Adam, since you’re going to be doing so much simultaneous filming and working, I suggest you make yourself an all-in-one rolling audio, video and lighting stand for that. You can go all professional grade like in the first clip it or use the second or third clip to adapt to what you have at hand. The second one could be the b-cam. I hope this is helpful. I imagine you have enough parts lying around to make something or other with what you’ve got 🙂

9. hit-and-miss seems accurate. a couple years back when my cousin married, she asked my sister if she would consider personalising champagne glasses with the name of each guest, got her a name list, a looooot of champagne glasses, and the lowest-of-the-line proxxon rotary tool kits.

   admittedly, the list of names wasn’t short, but the tool gave out just past the halfway mark and we had to get another one to finish the job.

   but good to hear they also have tools that made better impressions.

10. My $20 amazon rotary tool just wasn’t cutting it….

    This video goes up and I figure what the hell and order from the manufacturer site. This was Tuesday and today it comes in the mail (Thursday).

    It is light, pretty quiet for the tool we’re talking about and that on off click is just great.

    I’ll be taking it for a spin this weekend.
