Adam Savage’s Maker Tour: Stanford Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Program
At SAYAC, Adam learns about an innovative and therapeutic program that designs makerspaces in children’s hospitals in order to engage young patients in making and problem-solving. Then, as part of that “maker therapy,” Adam helps Aaron, Ryan and Joseph build a doorbell that will help provide some privacy for Tia from all the nurses and doctors coming and going from her hospital room! (This series and tour is made possible by The Fab Foundation and Chevron.)

As a NH-Lymphoma survivor and now pursuing a degree in psychology this makes me so happy! So many possible benefits to a therapy of this nature. Hats off to Stanford for making this happen. And, thanks to Adam and the Tested crew for spreading the word and given these young people a opportunity to illustrate their journey with making in this difficult context.
This video made me so happy!!! What a fantastic idea for the patients and they even thought to make the possibility portable for those that may not be able to make it to the actual space. AWESOME!!!
I spent a few contiguous weeks in Children’s DC when I was 9. Would have loved that mobile maker cart back then.
