While at New York Comic Con, Norman Chan photographed some of the extraordinary cosplayers Adam Savage interviewed, including Regan Cerato of Cowbutt Crunchies Cosplay.
Here, Regan is Helga Sercle, a boss character from Tree of Savior, a Korean MMORPG. The craftspersonship on this costume is absolutely extraordinary. (Those horns are foam, by the way.)
This original knight design is Scone’s homage to sewing, which is her primary focus. Adam spent a lot of time going over the fine details — such as the buttons comprising the shoulders — that make this costume so amazing.
In 2018, Beverly Downen of Downen Creative Studios went viral with her incredible Hela costume and headdress, which is how she got on our radar. For New York Comic Con 2019, she rebuilt and improved her suit, which in part included a technique of adding texture to fabric that totally impressed Adam.
This is YouTuber/prop maker/cosplayer Clayton Parker in his Magneto costume, which is a mashup of the classic Jim Lee X-Men comic design and a modern looking statue from Sideshow Collectibles.

Known for his 3D printing, this was Clay’s first time sewing, but you’d never know it! (By the way, he’s Uncle Jessy on YouTube if you want to subscribe.)

At New York Comic Con, Felicia Neely of Space Lion Cosplay revealed her scratch-built (and partially 3D-printed!) replica of Enfys Nest from Solo: A Star Wars Story. Adam was super impressed by the helmet, which is comprised of 32 different pieces (!) and features a futuristic yet also ancient texture.

While Kezia of Kawaii Mayhem has been cosplaying for years, New York Comic Con marks the first time she’s debuted a costume where she built every element from scratch!

Kezia’s Mysterio ensemble required a wide variety of techniques. Adam was particularly impressed by how she EXACTLY matched the color on pieces that were made from totally different materials.

At New York Comic Con Melissa Ng (aka Lumecluster) showed us the latest improvements to her wearable gothic-inspired fantasy armor.

Not only is Melissa’s armor more versatile and historically true to gothic armor design, but it’s so modular that you can wear the pieces multiple ways, which she demonstrated in our video.
