Prop maker Ryan Nagata is obsessed with NASA spacesuits, and has made the best replicas Adam has seen. While at his workshop, Adam and Ryan geek out over the process of fabricating fake spacesuits, including fabric selection, sewing, building hardware, and weathering. Plus, Adam gets a surprise!

I would really like to see some insight on how he developed his patterns. It is clear he’s spent a lot of work fine tuning them, but it just astonishes me how well he can take whatever reference he has and convert it into really clean patterns. Well done, Ryan!
So, I was watching this wonderful story about a Man who makes space suits. When I notice on the wall of Ryan’s shop that there was a movie poster of “Amigo Undead”. I decide to jump over and watch it. When l notice who directed it, I was like “Isn’t that the guy that makes the suits?”. Nice Job Ryan! It was a really good movie.

Great video! Does anyone feel that the color balance or exposure was a bit off? In many shots, it was hard to see the spacesuits because they were such bright white. They had very little contrast.

I thought that as well. Considering the comments above as well, perhaps there was a whole white-balance/exposure issue with the filming that day.
This video is beyond awesome. I love seeing some one do something they are so passionate about, but also being recognized and well rewarded for it as well!

Oh man… I’m in nerd-vana after seeing this video! =D I so need to get myself my own shop up and running and making stuff again. Since I moved I just haven’t had the time nor the energy to really dive deep into crafting! =)

It is blue, just look at the photos Norm took.
I assume the strong work-lights in Ryan’s shop didn’t fully cooperate with the video-camera, requiring some balancing and tinting certain colours. Not uncommon in spaces like this.
great video, guys! not only is it friggin’ interesting just by the craft and skill on display here, but it’s especially lovely because of the enthusiasm.
adam’s appreciation of ryan’s work, ryan’s gratitude for someone noticing & appreciating the fine points of his work & research, the whole thing about how readily people help each other out because they share enthusiasm for something… that’s a great, great thing.
