Adam Savage Meets a Weebo Animatronic Robot!
When Adam was building practical props and effects for films, he worked on stunt Weebo robots for the Robin Williams comedy Flubber. Years later, prop maker Ed Zarick visits the cave with his own mechanized Weebo, an impressive feat of replica prop building!

I genuinely started to weep at the end of this video…
Wow! Ed did an amazing job.
I am FLUBBERgasted by his maker skills!
I forsee additional videos of his work showing up on Tested.
Eddie, you are a hero! I’ve been following the project for a while. This is such a beautiful ending of the project. Hope to see more of you on Tested in the future!
Two gentlemen, craftspeople — artists.
Wow, more of these, please.
I had a smile in my face during all the video. Eddie, you nailed it!
awesome! love this video, more of this plz!
Super Impressive! Loved this vid. Eddie, please come back with more projects.
I love that Eddie now the owner of an original prop.
This is how you do it fellas, bravo!
what a great video! smiling, smiling. Super talented guy!!!!
Holy cow! This is incredible!
Every kind of awesome.
This is amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Oh man, this was so good!
For some reason I cannot view the video. Tried two different PCs (on different networks) and my SmartPhone and no go. “An error occurred. Please try again later…
What I liked the best… he is a full time Fireman and not a prop guy, or a professional FX guy. This is not his day job. I really like hearing that when these things pop up. Gives me hope I can still do more of this stuff without justifying it as a business expense. 😉
I love watching the pros of course but they often have more access to materials and experience than the average mortal. 🙂

Thank you!! That one I can watch!
Got to meet Ed and Weebo and was blown away by how much work went into this – made the Ghost Trap seem easy.
Thanks everyone for the kind words! Been a tested viewer for a long time! I hope to be back in the shop soon for future projects!
Reaaaaally great stuff, it’s a bit like old-styled Tested project-wise and I love it! Incredible job Ed!
With that kind of skill I sure hope to see more of your work in the future!
Would you happen to have a video with all of the animations? I was hoping they would show them at the end of the video, especially the one taking the picture.
As a side note, when I saw Flubber as a kid, Weebo awed me so much that it inspired me to go into robotics, I’ll definitely will be printing and assembling one based on your design!
Nevermind, found your test animation 😀
Amazing build
Yeah just check out my channel on YouTube. Or go to the video page on the site, http://www.edsjunk.net/weebo
This is just great all around, the build, the camaraderie, everything. Best of Tested.
Excellent! Great build.
What type of controller/system did you use to program her voice sync and movements?
I was privileged to see this in person soon after the shoot and I was absolutely floored. Such jaw dropping work! I’m sorry not to have met Eddie — judging from this video he seems like a really great person.
Seriously amazing! Loved this movie as a kid and now I really want to find it and watch it again. Thanks for sharing!
Amazing, you could even try to make a flying one using a very light weight material and create a quadcopter. Did my own quadcopter build with my friend and we used a light weight foam for the main construction body with some plastic to encase all the important stuff. I imagine that would be very cool to see one flying! Admittedly it would be less accurate and have such attention to detail, but it would still be cool (but not as cool as this one). Great work! 😀
I wanted to here about the Weebo on Adams shelves since joining Tested and seeing it in the background in one of the first videos I saw. She’s on my top ten list of favorite robots. So when I saw Ed’s RPF thread a few weeks ago and he mentioned that they shot something at Tested with him and his Weebo and its been the first place I visited each day waiting for the video to get posted. It did not disappoint. Loved hearing Adams history with Weebo and blown away by Ed’s creation. Hiring and actress to do the voice is a whole new level of fandom and maker.
Incredible! I’m excited to see more of this guy’s work. Such an impressive project.
Firefighter? You may want to consider ‘Imagineer’ as a profession.
Amazing results, and it’s obvious you have a love of the craft.
This is awesome. Need to rewatch flubber now.
Oh man this is awesome, the dedication this guy put into the build is amazing, went all out building Weebo as close to the movie as possible. You can not ignore the clear excitement Adam has for this project, his voice goes up a few times, which I think is really cool he truly loves it. And that extra gift he got for giving his actual movie prop pieces was brilliant. Would love to see a Wall-E build next that would be awesome.
Lovely and awesome!
I’m not sure whats more awesome, this weebo, or the generosity and camaraderie amongst the maker community.
Fantastic!
Just out of words…. Fantastic.
This is to funny and random. I had the job of 3d Modeling and animating weebo for the movie at Dreamquest Images way back. I had one sitting on my desk for 6 months. Good times.
Wow, that was incredible!
