  1. Had to go find the video of Adam singing ‘I Will Survive’ as Gollum, was not disappointed! What a gem haha.

  2. Really hoping that budget cosplay video series happens, I think the concept of hosting it in a hardware store is brilliant.

    Great video as always!

  3. circa 52:00 – re: buying an iPhone made by the kid down the block. Adam – read “Bunnie” Huang’s The Hardware Hacker if you haven’t already. He talks a lot about the Open Hardware movement and specifically about the amazing world of Shenzhen’s and its very different, more fluid ideas of intellectual property which, in combination with the amazing rapid design-to-manufacture cycle they’re capable of there, has created a culture of any-scale manufacturing that can do bizarre, boutique creations that are at the same time as sophisticated as products from major manufacturers. The iPhone made by the local kid is exactly the future he’s working for.

The book is also a manifesto for this kind of thinking and that maker culture. You will probably even find yourself, as I did, considering a book full of detailed techie information about electronics design and manufacture you might never have wanted to hear about, as a rivetting page-turner.

  4. For those of you wondering about Duct Tape…
Duct Tape was originally Duck Tape. It was invented by the US military by using medical bandages and glue. It was first used to cover cracks and slots on ammo boxes while they were drug through swamps and wet areas ie “Duck”. Later it was colored grey and used to cover bullet holes in planes. Duct Tape for a long time was rated by the speed that it would rip off the side of a plane.

If you are working on Duct Work I would use silver sided heat tape. It’s much much stronger then duct tape, water resistant, wider then duct tape and you get more of it on a roll.

  5. I am a community member of Nation Makers, and am currently working on developing a Makers network project in New Mexico. I like your definition of what Nation of Makers is, does, and stands for, so much that I am wondering if it would be permissible to use that clip of this video (54:38 – 52:22 ) as part of some grant writing I am completing this week? Thanks for the inspiring words.

  6. If you want to reach Adam, it might be worth tweeting at him as well as posting here. He does read the Tested comments, but since you want to use the clip this week twitter might be a faster way to get a response 🙂

  7. There’s a photo of me up on the screen during this panel!! I was the Black Cat cosplayer who’s glove was being fixed by the tested cosplay repair booth!! Is there any way I could get that photo?

  8. Try writing directly to norm’s tested email, he can probably get it for you if the tested team took the pic 😀

  9. I love these Q&As, but wish someone would have thought about just getting a record feed from the board supplying the room…

  10. Oh Adam, pleeeeze come to Europe! Not to put too fine a point on it but Copenhagen just finished building a new super-arena – well, “super” by our standards, about 12-15.000 people. I’m not going to claim I know any of the bookers you’d need – but for you I’ll find them.
