Adam Savage’s Maker Tour: 49ers STEM Leadership Institute
Alongside Jesse Sapolu, retired center/guard for the San Francisco 49ers, and Brandi Chastain, Olympic and World Cup soccer champion, Adam works with students at the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute who are designing and building a tee that will hold a football in windy conditions. After four-time Superbowl champion Jesse lends his expertise and Brandi tests the tees with her killer kick, see which one was voted most likely to succeed! Not sure about the dislikes (sad to see that), but we are disabling comments on videos that feature minors because, well, Youtube. Glad you liked it, though!
I’m guessing the dislikes are because of comments being disabled, especially with no explanation in the description.
Really good video, I like how they’re integrating the different subjects that would normally be polar opposites.
For youtube I think that’s a fair reason and I think people are just bummed out by past videos without knowing the disconnect.

as for youtube: not that they seem to need a reason for negativity over there, but the combination of disabled comments (rightfully so!), educationally-focussed content reading ‘political’ (*headdesk*), and a sports team looks like a very good spread across the most common topics people tend to get partisan about. it only lacks religion. 😉
The NFL, sports science, kids, educational outreach, competition, a woman kicking a ball who on top of it is a football (aka. “soccer”) player? Yeeah, better not let YouTube prove its track record.
Thanks. A year or so back we did a video with kids and didn’t disable the comments, and the comments were so negative, the kids (and their instructors — and us!) were devastated. But based on the conversation on this page, we’ll now include in the YouTube caption our policy of suspending comments on videos featuring minors so the reason why is clear. Thank you to everyone who brought that up.
These kids are amazing! I am happy they are a part of our future.
