Awesome! Bonus points for the epic record player!
I imagine the youtube comments are blowing up about the Crosley turntable. At least this one has an Audio Technica cartridge, however, I still wouldn’t trust the tracking weight of the tone arm. Crosleys are infamous for prematurely wearing out record grooves.
If you’ve got anymore of those Minimus 7 bookshelf speakers (like the ones in the Captain Kirk chair) you could put together a nice little setup for yourself, with a small amp and decent turntable. I’ve got a couple sets of minimus 7s at home and they’re fantastic bang for the buck.
just a minute. i thought you messed up on the recording and that was the one you were keeping, don’t tell me i’m having a mandela moment here.
For sure. For $300-$500 you can get a nice Project or Music Hall Turntable. I bet Adam has a nice one at home.
With the tools available in the shop Adam could make himself a really nice plinth and platter, then add the necessary mechanical bits for a sweet custom table. Then, on top of that, build a portable cart to house the table, pre-amp/amp, and speakers. He could even turn a really nice record weight on his lathe. I don’t know if his vinyl collection is large enough to warrant such a build though.
There’s a little cut at 2:58, I’d bet money it’s because Adam teared up. It’s great work to be proud of.

More than one cut. 🙂
Very cool.
gotta love how a lot of the comments are people giving adam shit for his record player and the tuning of his uke.
