1/10th Studio Scale 2001: A Space Odyssey Discovery Model!
We thought we had seen the ultimate 2001: A Space Odyssey Discovery model with the Moebius kit, but here’s an upcoming model kit that takes things up a notch. This is a prototype 1/10th studio scale model of the Discovery from Kaiyodo, with an insane amount of detail that we can’t wait to build!

Great interview. The passion and excitement are infectious.
At 3:32 you guys talk about getting an extreme close-up shot of the model, and the results aren’t bad at all. I’m sure you’re probably on a Canon zoom or equivalent for all the interview stuff, just for versatility.
However, you could pack an additional Sony alpha series mirrorless camera (e.g., a7S II) with something like a Zeiss Milvus 50mm Macro (2/50M) lens for those insane close-up shots, to really capture the detail of these models and miniatures. The f/2 max. aperture is reasonably fast for some of these relatively low light Conditions (pun intended), and I think close focus is under 10″ (yeah, I know it doesn’t have autofocus, but any competent shooter can manage critical on a few insert shots). There are also solid options from Canon and Tokina.
