Adam Savage’s Starchild from 2001: A Space Odyssey!
Adam shares the story of a recently completed project: an accurate replica of the Starchild prop seen at the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey. The journey to making this prop involved collaborations with effects artist Steve Neill, finishing work by Tested’s Kayte Sabicer, and electronics by Jeremy Williams! Keep an eye on it’s hypnotic gaze!

I imagine you’re familiar with a Macbeth color chart https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ColorChecker. If only you had had one handy when you were photographing the actual prop.
Still, pigments change with age — who knows what the original color of the prop was….
I want to see a photo shoot where you over expose it, add a halo effect….
Love this. Saw the Kubrick exhibit in SF a couple years back and can attest to how creepy the real thing is in person.
Quick thought on the video: I really appreciate that you guys did more close-in shots in this video. I love the content Tested produces, and the one way I think it could get even better is if you guys shared more of those close up details, especially for builds. Many videos have little or no close-up shots, and that’s a shame as you guys are so often doing really interesting things. You need not go full-on Peter McKinnon or Alec Steele with your b-roll, but I think you have an opportunity to show more and not necessarily tell less, but definitely give us viewers a better look at what you’re describing.
Of course, NOW we see something else cool in the background- what’s the story on the Norris spider??
This is worse than creepy fig.
