Adam Savage’s Favorite Tools: iFixit Repair Toolkit!
For taking apart and repairing his electronics, Adam finds the iFixit line of bit driver kits more than meet the task. Their repair kits feel good to use, will last, and have an incredible range of bits that fit the tiniest screws in your gear–including those with tamper-proof pins. Adam champions the mission of Right to Repair, and policies that would give consumers the ability to open up hardware they’ve purchased to modify, tinker with, and repair them.

Could someone tell me the exact name of the bit needed for Leatherman multi tools?
One day I dropped my Leatherman Surge and some of the tools came loose and now they can easily partially unfold. Not a huge deal, it’s the flat head screwdrivers on the inside, but still bothering me a fair bit, especially since it wasn’t even a major impact that made them come loose. Would be real happy if I could finally fix it!
Thank you!
Adam,
You think John Deer is bad, try working in general aviation, a alternator belt made by Gates, you can buy it for $5 at the auto parts store, that same belt, cannot be put on your plane unless it comes from an “approved source” cost $75. even though it is made by Gates, and has the same part number. We are slowly getting some of these un reasonable restrictions removed, but it is very slow going.
pentalobe torx: not sure on the size though.
Search eBay for “tamperproof pentalobe”
Bingo.
Yes I gathered as much but thanks anyway.
I checked my Leatherman and it actually has hexalobe torx, maybe the older models have penta or Adam remembered it wrong. I ordered a T10 temperproof bit, I’ll let you know if it fits or not when it arrives.
For anyone that cares the hexalove T10 security torx bit I bought fits the leatherman but you need 2 of them to secure the pin on one side while unscrewing on the other.
