Tested Builds: LEGO Sandcrawler, Part 1

We’ve reached the final week of the first Tested Month of Building, and what better way to cap off four weeks of projects than a massive LEGO kit? This time, Will and Norm tackle the new LEGO Star Wars UCS Sandcrawler set. But before the build can begin, Will has a surprise reveal for Norm…you’re not going to want to miss this. 1. I don’t tend to collect SW LEGO anymore but when this Sandcrawler set was announced I put it on the list, the first of the big SW sets that I’ve ever wanted. It will go well with the rest of the City/Town I have. 🙂

Also, use a knife to slit open the stickers used by LEGO to hold their boxes shut, your hands will like you a lot more for it.

  2. Will’s evil laugh is amazing 😀
Less than 10 minutes in and this is already my favorite video of all time!

  3. And this is why I don’t have cable. All the drama, intrigue and mystery of a cable TV show but with Lego and hilarity. Thank you Tested, thank you. You’ve made my day.

  4. This is the stuff I’ve been missing from Tested for a while now. It’s great premium content, was hilarious. can be a real jerk sometimes, I’m sure he knows that. But sometimes his jerkiness makes for brilliant content, and this is one prime example of that.

The pettiness and bickering is very funny with constantly antagonising , really looking forward to the rest of this series. I’m backing team ! GO NORM…

  5. “Only Will can suck the fun out of LEGO”. Ladies and gentlemen, I just got my money’s worth out of my Tested membership.

  6. I am on Team for this build..

How can I not root for the guy who is building LEGO on no sleep, and who quite literally has smoke coming out of his ears! Go, Norm!!

  7. I have been wanting to get premium for a while, but the teaser on YouTube for this build pushed me to get it!

  8. “We have to finish building this LEGO Star Wars kit TODAY, I’m seeing Arcade Fire tonight!”

That’s the whitest thing I’ve ever heard! Haha. I went into this thinking I was about to watch paint dry, but actually ended up laughing quite a bit at ‘s misfortune. Sorry, Norm. Heh.

  9. “It smells like something’s on fire”. Don’t worry, that’s just Norm’s brain cooking up a revenge scheme.

Go team Will, for inciting, what is so far, the best video series ever!

    Crank up the tunes Joey!

  10. This reminded me, have you guys ever seen BlockCAD? its not been updated in years, but it is a pretty awesome ‘lego’ CAD program. The author has been careful enough to avoid copyright issues, but it is accurate enough to design some sweet builds.

  11. Yes!!! I can’t wait to see more of this series. One question though is the color on the camera facing you different than on the one facing norm? The one facing you looks muted, Keep up the great work.

  12. The Star Destroyer / Death Star build is what got me hooked on Tested in the first place – This promises to be just as entertaining!

  13. I am so HAPPY. I’m sorry to laugh at Norm’s pain, but I giggled for the whole first twenty minutes.

  14. I just watched 2 grown men build LEGO for 44 minutes. Day well spent. Am now looking on eBay for some LEGO. Great video!

  15. Just love the different attitudes, it’s clear that Will is going to calmly walk to the winning post, and Norm is going to explode at some point.

  16. Thanks Guys!!! The funniest episode I’ve seen, and by far the best build episode this month. Sorry, but the others just weren’t this entertaining. Sleep well, Norm.

  17. Toaster ovens are just so versatile. For many things, it’s better than reheating in a microwave to avoid mushy sogginess. It heats up faster than the oven. I’d bet it uses less energy too because it has much less space to actually heat up. I make my sandwiches in the toaster all the time. Get the bread a little toasty, then throw on the roast beef or turkey and cheese. Heats the meet, melts the cheese. It’s almost like a pannini press and it satisfies the multi-function use requirement of kitchen equipment!

  18. Well just became premium! Now that I am passed the sea of angry people I’m surprised how many people freaked out and “unsubscribed” because of one in one thousand videos was an “ad” for premium memberships.

  19. I use a rimmed cookie sheet to hold and knoll all my lego pieces as I build. the rim ensures nothing rolls off and makes it easy to contain everything.

  20. PLEASE White Balance the Cameras before making split screen vids. The yellows are killing me, seems petty but if your not color correcting them in post its really annoying when you are trying to focus on small areas of the screen. There should be a way to fix it in your editing bay(or program) I love the content, like to hear about the regional stuff because it tells me more about the area, guess you filmed on July 30th?

  21. I became a premium and member just to be able to see more videos 🙂

But will all be 480p. Was hoping for 720p as on the YT videos?

  22. There’s some massive colour difference between those cameras. The bright yellow pieces look beige on Will’s part of the video.

They’re all available in 360p, 480p, 720p and 1080p. At least every premium video I’ve seen has been.

  23. okey, i have used my phone to download the video and then send to my xbmc setup. Will have to try a pc and see of there are any quality options! Thanks! I have to noticed the lack of white balance…

  24. Download link is usually 1080p from what I’ve seen. On a few videos it’s been something else. You can download all sizes even if there’s only a link to 1080, just replace 1080 with 720 (or 360 or 480) in the URL.

  25. This is truly fitting.

Back in the Whiskey Media days, BRICKED was the feature that finally got me to subscribe to the 5 Whiskey sites.

After the buyout of Giant Bomb, I never bothered to subscribe to TESTED even though I’m here daily. Now, I finally (once again) am going to get off my butt and support this great site. Guess I should have probably jumped in earlier, but that’s irrelavent now.

Can’t wait to watch all these and get caught up! Thanks for doing another build series &

  26. Will seems to be maniacally enjoying himself over Norm’s extreme unhappiness. Someone needs to make a “best of” reel of all the lovely repartee.
