I reckon a build off between you two would be really cool. For example, who can design and build the best RC plane in a week. They are pretty easy to build with foam board, balsa etc, and can be as simple or as fancy as you like. You can cover the planning phase, as well as the actual making part and electronic selection (much like the quadcopter video). Finish with a fly off, possibly with some pros testing out what the finished designs are capable off. Would totally watch that!
That sure is pretty 🙂
I think though that the red connection is loose on panel 2, 3rd row up, the LEDs on both edges. It seemed like it was cyan whenever it should be white. On the plus side, if you want to fix it, at least the problem is near the outside of the cube.
I want this kit!
This was a great series of videos. I was really tempted to pick this up after seeing it at Maker Faire but I’m glad I didnt as my soldering skills are no where near yours and it looked like a pain in the ass. Maybe in the future with some more practice.Between the build videos and the Mythbusters marathon, this holiday break is going to be filled with geektastic entertainment.
Soooo mesmerizing.O_O
A small CNC mill would be great to watch as a build, plus you could then use that tool for building more builds!
I’m sold. I’ve got to get one! Love these builds, keep it up.
Looking at the result of the White led run, some of the drop wire grounds are touching wires below them.
The way this Matrix system typically works is it sets the colours for a 4 LEDs across a row and turns the ground for the row. When the first LEDs go through white, the top 2 LEDS are both on, the middle 2 i think have the top 3 lines on together.
Great Series. You should try a oneTesla coil kit, or maybe a Jacobs ladder kit.
Would be even better if the top three row commons weren’t shorted together. It should go 1,then 2,then 3,then 4, but it goes 1, then 2,3 and 4 together.
You can trace it back to a couple of days ago and the comment from Norm that ‘it doesn’t matter if the grounds touch’. It does, they are multiplexed, could have been clearer in the manual on that point.
The Game Frame in the back is mesmerizing.
Yes, that was driving me nuts.
*A it’s possible that it was much more obvious on the recording than in person, the brightness of the LEDs in person may have made it hard to focus on the actual color. That’s the excuse I’ll give them 🙂
*A I couldn’t keep my eyes off the Mr. Hankey action figure.
After seeing your reactions I’m sold. I’ll probably try to part one out as mentioned in one of the earlier video’s comments because my brain just won’t let me spend $150 on 64 LEDs.
Also I think it’s really funny you never put warnings on these videos.
Nice build, impressed that you guys got it done so quickly.
Christmas on the Borg Cube!
