Tested Lessons: Painting Model Kits, Part 5
Work on painting the Monterpappa creature kit continues! Will and Norm learn how to layer washes on the model to give it a natural-looking base color, start working on some of the details. These are starting to look pretty good! We also chat about recent summer movies, like Avengers: Age of Ultron. Follow along with us by signing up for a Tested Premium Membership here, and post your painting questions in the comments.

We get it Frank…you hate the monitor! HAHAHAHAHA
Good thing you fixed the paint frank cus it looked weird on camera… lol
Gaaaah, I haven’t watched the video yet but spoiler on the start page! =(
I think Norm’s OCD in painting was getting the best of him on this one. He was doing a great job and just didn’t seem to be happy with it. HAVE some more confidence in your skill man!
Great video series, with lots of great learning opportunities for us viewers. Keep it up!
it looks great!
Where do you find resin kits like this? Do you have a list of suggested sites / kits?

monsterpalooza, or amazing figure modeler magazine.
Finally an Avengers Spoilercast. I have to agree with Will on this, I thought it was meh. Especially because the whole AI turns evil plot is in every SciFi movie ever made.
A good example of colors looking different on camera is the Marlboro Penske Indy cars.
In person the red looked almost hot pink but on video they looked the normal Marlboro red
Will’s looks great with the black eyes! Norms would look awesome with orange eyes. can’t wait to see everyones finished product! Great work guys.
Really digging Norm’s color scheme so far.
Frank’s and Will’s look great, but I really like the blue that Norm has gone for, as opposed to the obvious (but still good) choice of green. Ace work, guys.
Red is one of the hardest color to make broadcast safe. So often companies will change the color of their products when filmed to make sure they render correctly on TV. I am not sure about it but I think it is a physical limitation of the sensors.
A quick tip for drying. The obvious is a hairdryer. But the other one is a desk lamp. I’ve got a halogen desk lamp, which works great. Place the item next to your lamp, and then pull it down so that it’s nice and close to your object. 8]
I agree with Frank. Movies are good. Kale is bad.
Where norm is sitting, it looks so much darker.Get the boy some light. 🙂 might make it a little easier. A little bit more direction from Frank also might help. Fun to watch these guys learn and paint!
Listen to the man, Norm! Light will definitely help.
