Great episode, guys. I am really enjoying this build! Very curious how the painting/weathering will turn out in the end. Additionally, I am curious how Adam’s kit is going. Standing by for next month’s content!! (and keeping fingers crossed for more of that Shadow Stormtrooper kit build!!!)
Week of Peels!
Being in manufacturing, I’m amazed that this kit has so much detail yet could be made “affordable” by any definition. The smallest part can take weeks of design/modeling/mold-making (not even considering the research that went into it). That’s a lot of talented people who need to be paid well for their time to make this thing available.
Also, I agree/disagree with both Will and Norm on paint. Some detail work needs to be done before it goes together and there will be more weathering needed at the end to pull it all together.
Hello,
First off, great building video. Really nice
I got some question about the Falcon Build.
If someone start ordering/subscribing the Millennium Falcon magazine+model kit, do they get only one magazine+kit per month starting from issue 1 now ?
Or could they just pay up some money and get a few magazine+model kit at one go so they can catch up to the current published issue?
Magazine with Model kit subscription is really new to me. I am wondering if a new subscriber really have to wait for an issue at a time per month. Meanwhile, you know it is already magazine issue #17.
The kit from the US distributor (Model Space) comes with 4 issues per box per month. I just got the 17-20 box the other day. I didn’t see any option to “catch up” to the most currently released issues, but maybe you can call them and ask? http://www.model-space.com/us/build-millennium-falcon.html
Thanks for the information. Will try to call them up.
4 issues per box per month. That means 6 boxes for the entire build, about half a year of shipping time. Does it translate that way ?
6 months to catch up to where everyone is now, but by then they’ll be 6 months ahead again! 🙂 The whole build is 25 months total!
Did you know there are add-on detail kits designed for this model?

When’s the next one going to be done?
Almost a month with no premium content? (and very little regular content) What’s going on?
Thanks for the information. Still thinking if I should get started. Wow a more detail add on. I also saw that there are people putting up upgrade parts at Shapeway 3D output service. I guess the hardcore model maker will go for even more finer detail.
Hey everyone we’re going on a membership drive, so sign up to a premium membership where you get to wait for a poster for months and we stop putting premium content on the site! Come on, daddy needs a new pair of loafers, what great value!
totaly true, paid for premium, and the last premium content is a month ago. so what did i pay for?
With you leaving Tested, are you going to finish this build or leave it to Norm?
Maybe Will leaving has disrupted the flow of content, but as a paying customer I fully expect to get an extension on my membership for as long as this is going to go on.
I agree that with Will leaving might have disrupted things but still not a great start after a big recruitment drive. You live and learn I guess, since I’ve watched all the content in premium I can honestly say that 98% of the best stuff in free on YouTube and I am unlikely to sign up again. Don’t get me wrong I really like TESTED. My favorite things are the one day builds, and Still Untitled is generally great. So I’m still happy to “support” I’m just disappointed because I expected premium to have like DVD “extras” and other cool stuff. Because that’s what I thought I was paying for…sigh.
A month of no content 🙁
I think it’s just been a combination of Will leaving as well as comic con/dragon con and other things that have slowed things down, I hope they get Jeremy or Frank to join in on the falcon build
Right after a premium membership drive is a bad time to have a content slow down. At the same time, life happens.
Agree with the 🙁
More than a month now.
This.
and still have not received the poster!!
same :'( I want to love Tested but no premium content, serious SPAM issues in the forum. This is uber unprofessional. Maybe TESTED can open the admin to senior forum members. It’s what a lot of other sites and people do, it just makes sense. Content side, I don’t know what we can do. That pretty much sits in their camp. maybe we can upload our own content? I don’t know.
100% agree. Had they phrased it as, “Help support Tested!” it would have been fine. But don’t promise content and then fail to deliver. Radio silence on posters, no vids in 49 days? Ugh.
I understand with Will leaving that things are in turmoil. But damn, how hard is it for Norm or someone else to just send an email to subscribers explaining the situation? This is weak, weak sauce.
And as a follow-up, I feel like a Patreon model might be better model, and would align Tested’s and subscribers’ incentives. I paid for an annual membership, but but would gladly pay $1 a video instead. 1 premium video a week means I’m paying more than my current subscription, and incentivizes them to release premium content. There were _three_ free posts today, which is awesome, but makes me feel like a chump for paying extra.
+1
I signed up for premium and haven’t used it much simply because I find it confusing to find videos. Is this reverse-chronological blog posting format the only means of accessing premium video content? It’s bad.
Please show me how I can simply find a group of playlists that allow for easy access to each video project.
As it stands, I see no reason to renew.
Where are the videos?
What the heck is happening with the Model Space Falcon build? I signed up to watch this build, and you haven’t uploaded a build video since August?!?
How is this build going? Will we see any more Videos soon?
Sid
i signed up to premium just fo this build , any news ?
Any news on the Falcon build?
I was enjoying watching it, but now I need a fix.
Has it really been August since a new video has been posted?
I signed up to premium content AND ordered this model based on these videos, and now it’s over? Calling lawyers now…
Just checking in, is this build on hold?
Next video please.
is there any more to this build ? its been a year?
i know will is gone but you should find someone to finish this model kit
Awesome job everybody. I have been building model kits for years and never have I had so much fun building this version of the Falcon along side with you. Any idea on if or you will have more episodes out?
Keep up the great work, proud to be a Tested member.
can we please have a update on this build please
So… it’s been a couple years with no apparent update on this project. Just sitting on a shelf, or do you plan on picking it up again?
Signed up today to watch this build…
Did you guys ever finished the modell? I cannot find any more of those vids.
Has this been abandoned? I just bought the 1 yr subscription for this model today. Was really enjoying seeing you guys build it as it was giving me the things to look out for. Seems like people keep asking for a status and getting the sound of crickets in response. Are these comments even read by staff? Is this project dead?
Bought a subscription because of this build and now I find out it’s dead? Lame!
Norm replied to a complaint of mine about this being abandoned. He said the project is going to be continued. This was a few months ago. I think they want to, but it seems like they are more into Lego With Friends then finishing this. I’m about halfway through mine and suspect I will have mine all done and on display before Norm and Will get theirs done. Adam probably already finished his to studio specs, painting the outside and everything. I’m not going to paint my hull, models in real life look garish as the colors are muted when filmed. Like the Enterprise D is really a light blue color called Duck Egg Blue, but on screen it looks gunmetal grey. So when I made mine, I did not paint it blue, I painted it light grey. The Falcon looks weird if you do it like it looks in real life in the studio. So I am leaving my hull as is. Maybe a touch up here and there, but not going to do it like Steve Dymszo did his. Search the You Tubez for “Painting the De Agostini Millennium Falcon Scale Model with Steve Dymszo”. To me the end result looked like a pizza lol. So I am going to make mine look more like the screen and not the studio.
