  1. Guys! the correct pronunciation of nuclear is ‘new-cleeuh’
nu-cue-lar just makes you sound like george bush junior.

And no one want’s that to happen, it leads to all sorts of misunderestimatin.

  2. Am I missing something? All the premium videos I pay for are at such a low resolution. Does anyone else ever get HD videos when its not hosted on YouTube?

I know why the videos cant be on YouTube, but hosting HD video is not hard.

Its a real shame, as spoils the video and I miss out on all the detail of the builds.

am considering cancelling reluctantly for this reason alone.

  3. Hi Frank,

What solvent/cleaner do you have your paint brushes sitting in? I am used to the clear solvents, have never seen the pink one before. Is it better or just different?

  4. Oh no you got the gimmicky locktite in the spaceship bottle. that never works right.

Thing is, if you mill a super ugly uranium core, who’s gonna know?

  5. Ditto. This only seems to have been an issue since the new HTML5 was implemented back in Feb; I’m not sure what player they were using prior to that, but it included a quality selector which worked fine.

  6. its just water, i think. the pink is residual paint.

forgot to pick some up. we’re dummys sometimes. we last-minute forgot to grab super glue, and had to settle for the stuff they have at the hardwear store.

  7. Because as much as I hate to say it, they’ve shown time and time again that they can be extremely unprepared while shooting a lot of these vids. They are constantly missing tools, using supplies that don’t work well, etc. I love these guys and their content (or I wouldn’t have bought a yearly membership) but I wish they were better prepared at times.

  8. Thanks for the inspiration guys! I was looking for something to do today and started this during part one, and finished during part two! Keep up the awesome work!

  9. I’m sure it won’t affect your street cred.

That’s how projects go though, otherwise nothing would be new or inventive ever. We have basically invented enough techniques and gear to make mostly anything. There’s still plenty of details to pick up if you want to learn like Franks daringly bent brush, I’d probably stab myself with it before doing that to a series 7.

Next one’s gonna be cast iron stippled yeah?

  10. Basic nuke building, in a regular nuke the high explosives are arranged around the nuclear material and compress it to criticality for fission. In a thermonuclear bomb they use a regular nuke to do the same to the hydrogen, deuterium/lithium mix, to cause it to fuse and make even bigger boom.

  11. The video looks OK to me – not super crisp at 2560×1440 on my iMac running Safari, but not grungy lo-res, so I’m pretty sure it’s 1080p.

  12. Lol, thanks Frank. Here I thought there may be some sort of magical cure to my brush cleaning woes. Seems like a simple problem but I absolutely hate cleaning paint brushes, especially the bigger ones. No matter what I do the big ones always seem to never get clean enough and turn rock solid.

  13. That looks like the LePage Ultra Gel glue. The bottle can be a bit of a pain from time to time but I have found it to be one of the better glues I’ve tried for plastics.

  14. Also still not seeing the video in HD. I haven’t watched many of the newer videos (since the switch to the new player) that have popped up because of this :/

  15. why not just use model glue from the hobby shop?

Dang it guys! Testers plastic model cement! Millions of model builders can’t be wrong. CA has its place but it’s not always the first choice. You really should have figured that out after the Falcon studio scale build ( whatever happened to that anyway?)

  16. Sigh. I just signed up for premium because I wanted to see this.

675×380 video isn’t even as high as standard definition TV

Are there plans to address this?

  17. why not just stop the camera, go get the glue (and whatever else you need), come back, and start recording again? No one will ever know! 😛 Its not like you were doing it live! 🙂

  18. Lol – I was gonna say the same and complain that there should be wires coming from each of the little hexa/penta-gons – even though I have never seen the actually FO4 mini.

Impressive though that it actually looks like a plausibly functional mini-nuke – basically a copy of Fat-man.

  19. Gotta say – the hard time you guys were giving Norm near the end? Made me decide not to watch the rest of this series. Maybe he and you are cool with it, not my thing.
