Simone Giertrz’s Ice Cream Drone–It Might Work!
For her latest project, Simone wonders if she can find a way to utilize drones to encourage working out. Her plan: use the subject tracking feature of a new DJI quadcopter to fly away from her while carrying a tantalizing treat. It might work!

You could make a negative reinforcement version that chases you with something scary too. It would help to keep your pace up, lol
The ice-cream would also do it for me although you would need backward obstacle avoidance. Or program flight path before hand. But the hassle contacting all the heliports before running would be a pain. Golden gate has three heliports closer than 5 miles and you would have to contact all of them before a run to be in compliance with FAA. If they even let you. And don’t forget the part were you have to be part of an CBO (community base organization) to fly recreational within 5 miles of an airport. Although AMA membership would cover that as well as some insurance. Anyway love the idea.
Technically that would be Positive Punishment Not Negative Reinforcement. With Negative Reinforcement you reward by taking away something the subject doesn’t like. Positive Punishment is punishing the subject by ADDING something it doesn’t want 🙂
I haven’t watched this video yet but it’s Simone, so I’m going to go out on a limb and say it didn’t work.
The one Jamie built with the buzz saw attachment for pruning trees?
Who is the little guy you used at 02:29? He looks like an awesome machine!!!!
But….but…but…my queen??? This is not a shitty robot………
mmmmm kay
Simone, your confusion with Imperial measurements is all the excuse you need to infiltrate Tested with metric.
Suggestions, replace the lower shelf with a solid piece and a cup to hold the cone. Create a cone between the two shelves with some type of material that insulates the ice cream cone. Place the ice cream cone in this insulated sleeve. With this, you can run a quarter marathon 🙂
Wonderful idea – get a patent – I can see ice cream shops using this to deliver cones.
I’m just glad you didn’t land that “conedrone” in a dog park (think about it).
This would have been an awesome idea if it worked. My concern when you described your intent, please don’t let it lead you out into traffic… or off a cliff… or into the doughnut shop. Great job.
1:19, great shot, Simone! 🙂 But this is Tested and not your YouTube channel, so I’ll keep crude jokes to myself.
I was wondering that too. It looks like a Mini cut off saw like this one:

Methinks I’m going to get one!
Yeah. Like her cucumber slicer robot.
I would run.
I would run like crazy batshit.
With Adam at the controls I would run like crazy too even if it just carried the ice cream
“why are there sixteen”
Naturally it is because Americans have 16 fingers.
it’s a mini miter saw. great for small cuts for hobby work: https://www.amazon.com/TruePower-919-Cut-Off-2-Inch-colors/dp/B000VWHTUG/
“why are there 16?” because imperial is basically centered around being able to halve the measurement. 1″ > 1/2″ > 1/4″ > 1/8″ > 1/16″ and so on.
Its actually based on the Avoirdupois system.

Misspelling of Giertz in the post title.
