Wow a behind the scenes video that actually includes behind the scenes material instead of just playing a bunch of clips and hyping the show like the official Syfy “behind the scenes” promo.
would you really have a concussive wave with no atmosphere?
Mars has an atmosphere, it’s just very thin (0.00628 atm), and mostly CO2.
so, what we really need to do is get a vacuum chamber and blow stuff up at Martian pressure to see if it still generates a shockwave 😛
Bob Munroe is one of the nicest people I’ve met.
Wow, I never realized that there was such a pipeline just for CG shots.
Very nice video!
Please hold the camera a bit more steady next time. 🙂
I think we might, from the gasses produced by the explosion if nothing else.
Really excellent behind the scenes info. I enjoyed seeing the specific steps and how many people were involved in each.
Even in a vacuum, an explosion will still appear to have a shock wave as the unburned propellant and exhaust gasses propagate outwards very quickly. Its not the same as a shock wave in an atmosphere though.
Amazingly there are still people that think the computer does all the work. 😛
It’s so good to see a behind the scenes with digital artists. I work in the game industry as a technical artist. It feels really good to see and hear fellow digital artists presenting themselves and shedding light on all the hard work they do. Elated fan and maker. Thank you so much for this content.
