  1. This is very complex stuff. Great documentary but still too demanding for my knowledge level… I do love a hot scientist though!

So Kishore is where it’s at. Haha!

  2. Ah great stuff again! My colleagues use CRISPR all the time now, though it has some drawbacks as well, it’s quite the revolution since I started working in science (2002). Things that were very difficult to do, and therefore were more likely not to be tried, are now so much easier. And great example of seeing the natural mutations coming into effect.

The democratic movement of these tools sound very nice ofcourse, but I personally think it’s a bad idea. If you’re interested in it, you can study all about it. But gene editing and such is so abstract for people who aren’t into it, that I wonder what it actually teaches them. But if that would be all of it, maybe that’s still fine, I’m more concerned about the majority of people out there using pseudo-science and using things like this completely unregulated.

  3. Very interesting episode. I think this sort of demonstrates that the Mythbusters could have made a decent episode demonstrating evolution, and made it entertaining. Sure, it wouldn’t have convinced any of the people who don’t believe in evolution, but neither did the Moon Landing show, and I can’t help thinking it would have been an excellent educational resource for kids.

  4. Have you read the Black Tide series by John Ringo? One of John’s consultants for determining how such a virus might work has been on a panel at Dragon Con with Kishore a couple of years running. Fortunately anything really dangerous is closely monitored/regulated.
