  1. Ahhh, the days of NCSA Mosiac 1.0… FTP, IRC, Usenet…

Using the college computer to FTP into wuarchive.wustl.edu and download stuff from aminet, finally downloading Netscape v1 and being able to look at graphics on websites! woooooh!

I miss the old days of the internet in some ways 🙂

  2. This is hilarious.

I have a feeling that a special drunk episode of “LEGO With Friends” with Bonnie and Phil Broughton would be the best thing ever recorded.

    This must be done!!!

  4. Stabbing Westward was the first band I ever saw live when I was a teenager. Great show, too. At one point, the lead singer pulled himself up into the rafters of the club and sang half a song hanging upside-down by his legs.

  5. Woods porn is totally universal. It’s where I first found a stash. And I lived in the middle of nowhere on the opposite side of the planet to most of you.

  6. A favorite band of mine. Fred belts it out and pounds the skins. Saw him break a cymbal at Tipitina’s in New Orleans one time.

  7. Stabbing Westward / Filter is probably the highlight of this episode though mention of EFNet brought back some happy memories.

  8. Do you need permits to shoot news in the city? Wouldn’t the bulk of the content on Tested be considered news?

  9. Re: Permits for shooting I asked a friend who is a former news photographer and current documentary film maker….

“The reason for getting a permit is so that you can legally block off the public thoroughfare and keep others from using what is otherwise public space for everyone. A commercial shoot, like news, is free to just use the public thoroughfare, but has no legal grounds to ask people to move or leave. Because commercial shoots waste more money the more time it takes them to shoot, a lot of them get permits so that they can use production time to the fullest. This is especially true if you want to film things happening in the road, rather than just a park or sidewalk, since almost no one is going to stop their car for you.

There are exceptions to this. Some areas have certain local laws (whose legality are sometimes questioned). For example, in D.C. you cannot use a tripod on any federal land because it could be used to steady a weapon. You also cannot use tripods in the metro (light rail) system because they present a tripping hazard. There are also some “semi-public” areas, like gated communities, where the roads are public, but the filming rights and other things are governed by a private entity.

The United States, unlike other countries like South Korea, has no “right to one’s image.” Meaning that you can shoot in public and get identifying features in the US without any problems. There are some arguments that defamation can occur with that image, but that’s not a right to take the picture/video issue.”

  10. I love this. Totally need to have Bonnie on more. I also know exactly what movies she is talking about. I think it must be a Midwest thing. Keep up the great work.

  11. I’d ship* that fanfic.

*pretty sure I got that nugget of teen-jargon from the Belmont episodes, always learnin’

  12. I HAD WOODS PORN TOO!

    I’m not alone anymore.

Ha! Same here. So weird. It’s like there was a porn fairy that would litter old issues of Hustler around the neighborhood.

  13. I love how Norm got really anxious when Bonnie was about to place the giant sticker, then was genially super surprised that she got in on there perfectly 😛

I think Norm should do more of these kinds of projects with Bonnie, that would probably be really good for him, mellow him out a bit… or break him… that’s a possibility too 😛

  14. I don’t know how you are going to finish this build, and I DON’T CARE. I could listen to the three of you talk for days. So fun!

  15. I have laughed to myself numerous times and chuckled a lot throughout part 1 and Part 2 of this LWF. I know a lot of folks knocked the episode of TIOAT Bonnie was on and admittedly, I myself had to stop about halfway through that podcast…but she’s a great guest for LWF! I encourage anyone who may have had a hard time with that podcast to give this LWF a shot. It gets even better in part 2 as they can be a bit more lose with their vocabulary and humor. There’s less Lego building than perhaps Norm would like as there’s A LOT of talk/banter and it can be prett random (when is it not) but I’m really enjoying Bonnie on LWF and wanted her and the guys to know that.
