LEGO with Friends: UCS Millennium Falcon, Part 9

The Falcon just needs a few more panels and the corridor to the cockpit to be fully operational, and Jeremy’s LEGO computer build is coming along great. Plus, we share stories of past Christmases, including our most memorable gifts. We’re almost done! Follow along by signing up for the Tested Premium member community!

  1. What? Totally not mad at you guys, this is THE big-huge Star Wars Lego set. Of course it takes a long time. Of course it went over schedule. But it’s soo close! I’m just glad you waited to finish it on Lego with friends instead of taking it home and finishing it for the display.

  2. Oh man, I BEGGED my parents for an Omnibot. I even told them that I could use it to help clean my room. I didn’t get it, the excuse they used was that it couldn’t reach the ground, so I couldn’t use it to clean my room anyway. But I’m sure they just couldn’t afford it.

On a side note, about snooping in the presents, my wife insists on ‘hiding’ presents for me in our shared closet and she just expects me not to look at them 😛

Keep up the good work, Tested!

  3. This series is quite a lot of fun– you guys chatting is much of it. I am a *little* older than the gang… my time was a little before home computers (but I did live near the Manhattan IBM Building… ) so my “grail” was Helios-21. The deceptive advertising was that this balloon-shaped air… space… vehicle would swoop around your home at your command. –As it turned out, the wires that controlled the thing had been removed before flight — and it was flown on nylon line. But the ad worked! My very indulgent, single mom saved up a long time for this one; my memory tells me $25 back in 1964. And there it was, my young heart pounding on XMas morn. It took an amazing amount of assembly. There was a pressurized gas canister included, with which to fill Helios-21 with helium! One had to put together the voltage converting recifier to get AC into DC! I look back with amazement. I was handy at age 8 and so followed the directions to the letter, screwing down the controller wires to the gigantic control panel, those wires from the styrofoam trays that held the fans– taping those to the hull, pumped in the helium and IT WORKED! For about a half-hour. I mainly terrorized my cat in our small Manhattan apartment. Then it sprung a leak– I could have over-pressured it. And not enough gas for a top-off. But it was a great half-hour.
