Tested: Fujinon MK 18-55mm Cinema Lens
Joey tests and reviews the Fujinon MK 18-55 zoom lens, which is notable for its price as a entry-level cine lens. Using it on a variety of location shoots and Tested productions, Joey demonstrates how professional cinema lenses operate and perform differently than still photography lenses for video, and why you would want to use one on your camera.

Really clear and informative video, thanks Joey! Can you say anything about the aperture ring on a Cine lens? Are the aperture stops clicky or continuous, and how does that affect data-taking for repeated takes or reshoots?
Build more rugged than the Canon 17-40L? That thing is build like a tank, if it falls on the ground, it breaks… the ground. And with a front filter it is weathersealed.
Nice video, didnt know that much about cinema lenses 🙂
I love Joey`s videos.
Very professional and to the point.
Thank you.
P.S. Does any know what cameras used on tripods in latest Bits to Atoms part 2 video?
love these videos 🙂 drooling over equipment here
Not only a fantastic review of the Fujinon but a great rundown of some of the key specs of cinema lenses. Greatly appreciated and can’t wait to see more.
Very educational.
Since you didn’t want to spell it out, the lens runs about $3K (on Amazon at least: http://a.co/1lHlFxw).
I hope to one day have a good enough excuse to drop some serious coin and pick up some of this nice equipment … and shoot a road trip or something.
this makes for good learning, joey. 🙂 for reference: i know basically nothing about shooting video, equipment, etc, and am barely proficient enough to come up with 1–2 presentable photos of stuff i build.
i admire the amount of structure you have here. no back and forth rambling, but a clear, methodical path through the subject matter. and you’re still sounding natural, as if you were explaining something in person.
Fantastic video Joey. Informative, well shot and structured without sounding like you’re reading from a script. Please get out in front of the camera more!
Wow! More Joey on cam pls! He’s awesomerer(?!) than I knew.
Great video Joey as usual, but do yourself a favor and get a Zacuto Gratical HD before your neck breaks off!
