Inside Adam Savage’s Cave: New Original Props!
Adam shares two new additions to his prop collection from Prop Store. One’s a piece of a spaceship from the science fiction film Europa Report, and the other is something you don’t see often: a silicone severed head from Bad Boys II! It’s a great example of a realistic special effects head, complete with detailed hair punching.

1.) While I was disappointed at first, I’ve appreciated Europa Report more with subsequent viewings, and the set design is unquestionably superb.
2.) I have also never seen Bad Boys 2, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who has that scene from Hot Fuzz playing in my brain right now.
The severed head looks amazing! I am with you Adam, if I had a severed head done of myself, I would surely love to have it sitting in my office haha.
Both Europa Report and Bad Boys 2 are available to stream on Netflix.

I couldn’t help but notice that the key pad just had random letter keys.

Prop Store of London seems to have one other severed head silicone sculpt for sale at the moment.
It is from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and is of a main-character (Zaphod Beeblebrox), a famous actor (Sam Rockwell) and has a lot more hair-work, so it is probably priced quite a bit higher than this one. Still gives an indication.
It is priced at $1745, so I’d venture a guess that this one is about a grand or so… which is rather reasonable for something of this quality and craftmanship.
Bad Boys 2 is fantastic, I struggle to remember the severed head scene however. I imagine Adam went home and watched the whole movie just to find it though.

I haven’t seen the film, but I would wager a guess that it wasn’t built as a severed head, but a head for a dummy, based on the propoxy and armature wire coming out the bottom. Looks like it may have originally had a bit of chest attached to it as well, by the way the silicone is cut along the bottom.
Bad Boys II is a great movie. Totally over the top Bruckheimer/Bay action flick. Im not sure, but there is a scene where they are in a morgue and the bodies are stuffed with drugs. One of these bodies is where this head is from and it subsequently ends up falling out of a van and is run over by the pursuing car. I could be wrong. Anyway I love that movie and want that head!!!

Adam. I know you have more free time coming up. I know you have some content to generate post Mythbusters, as Tested ramps up and gets more of your time. If you don’t end up approaching a model maker and manufacturing a severed Jamie Hyneman head, you are missing a golden opportunity. Perhaps a modification of the Mission Impossible mask would be a good one day build, hmm?
