Hot radio ad read norm = regular norm. I like it.
I’m gonna do the comment as I listen thing again…. Just posting my thoughts as you go.
Twitch is much better than youtube livestreaming… just saying.
What was Norm’s dragoncon costume, anyway? About guests, is Adam going to drop by for a bit? He could easily be out of town.
The first digital camera I personally owned was a Pentax K5 so definitely still modern (less than 5 years old)…. before that it was my parent’s dslr… an older pentax…. 6 megapixels is tiny now.
I’ve not gamed consistently in around 6 months, so I’m not really interested in next gen consoles. I’ve done more on pc recently anyway… it feels more natural to play games on your computer.
Then I ran out of things to say.
The best part is when they are arguing over toaster ovens.
And how Will is seemingly jealous of the fact that Norm has a kickass oven in his crib, which they rarely ever put to use..
Will doesn’t know how both toaster ovens and muscle cars work.
Norm was Capt. Kirk (from the latest films) at DragonCon..
Adam stopped by for an hour last year, and I am hoping that he stops by this year. But you just never know with his crazy schedule and all..
My first day of design school we did the egg-drop as a team-building type exercise. We got two A3 sheets of paper, 20cm of tape, one sausage-style balloon and 60cm of twine. The drop was 5 floors down, but it was indoor, so no wind. My team was the only one that had no leak or crack.
Random crazy question: why is it that recently, Youtube embeds don’t support full-screen mode? is it clickbaiting so i go watch the video ON Youtube? is it another sign of the shitty ways Youtube has been getting worse every time they update it? Is there some logical reason I’m totally unaware of?
Is Adam going to be on? If so, I will watch the entire thing and donate to all three charities. If not I will probably not bother to be honest… Also will there be ad’s during Octoberkast? If so, I am out and hopefully there is zero apple news too.
Sure. It will suck if Adam doesn’t show up. But, it’s not like it’s the end of the world.
There will plenty of other guests on the show that will keep the entire 24 hours interesting to watch..
Oh god, what does the GFWL killing batman saves mean for my current Dark Soul save? 🙁
I agree, toaster ovens are crap. Also Will is right, heat up your pizza in the oven, microwave turns it brick hard.
How can you complain about the power efficiency of a toaster oven then use an oven to heat 3 slices of pizza? That’s like drying 3 wet shirts in your dryer. Toaster ovens 4 lyfe.
It was always my understanding that toaster ovens were more efficient (less area to heat), depending on the duration of the cooking as a range oven will be better insulated.

This suggests that typical usage is in the 1100-1400 watt range, which is what most microwaves are that I’ve seen.
Although I appreciate Norm’s willingness to torture himself for our entertainment, I think watching Norm play with the Rift for 4+ hours would get old fast. Rift videos are a little interesting, but it generally doesn’t seem like a good spectator activity–although you can appreciate that the person wearing the Rift is experiencing something cool, as a viewer you’re just watching two screens showing more or less the same thing.
However, if we’re looking for ways to torture Norm, or at least confuse him, is it possible that for some portion of the time he’s locked into the Rift we can make Norm watch the live stream of himself? Like playing a very awkward third person shooter. That might be more entertaining.
I’m a little disappointed there won’t be an auction this year, although I recall the prices escalating out of my range pretty quickly most of the time last year anyway. Maybe some giveaways instead? Call-in trivia? In any case, looking forward to it.
I’ll donate to all 3 charities if Adam isn’t on. I’ll donate if there is an ad. I’ll donate if there is apple news.
There, this turd is countered.
Nice logic.
Thank you.
I see where Norm and Wes were coming from on the preheating problem. That’s the reason I love the dual oven design my range has. It is the standard height, but has two ovens built in, a short one on top that heats up very fast and is great for broiling, baking and even toasting, and then a larger one below that large enough to fit a big ‘ole turkey or roast. The only bad thing is removing large heavy pans from the lower oven can be hard since it’s much closer to the ground than a standard oven usually is (there is no drawer on the bottom like many ovens have). But we cook 95% of the time using the top oven since it is big enough for rolls, bread, cookies, lasagna, casseroles, etc, etc, etc. And it comes to temp in under 5 minutes.
Not sure, probably Flash? I’m using Safari 5.1.10 for Mac if that makes any difference.
Guys… I know this was an argument about toaster ovens but you HAVE to look at this book. Take it from a Chef, it will make you cringe, laugh, and go WHAT THE HELL!!!
The Joy of Microwaving
I know you guys prefer the iPad mini form factor to the 10″ form factor, but you’ve got to stop acting like everyone on earth does. Some of us prefer a larger screen on a device which is primarily designed for consumption in places where you’d be staying still for a stretch of time. More portable form factors are more important for phones to some of us.
I’ll be that guy. A quick “well, actually..”
The Sonos bridge is $50, not $100 like Will said. And I see it pretty constantly bundled at Target (“buy play:3/5, get free bridge”). So for $300 you can get a speaker and the wifi bridge. The system may be a little expensive, although looks pretty neat. (I don’t own it myself, because it’s too pricey).
And, also like Will said; it’s a closed, proprietary standard, which I’m not a fan of (and not Will either apparently..). I wish there was an open source/DIY way to do it as slick as Sonos but I did not find anything when I looked. If somebody knows please let me know! Or else I’ll buy a Sonos pretty soon..
Obviously you guys have never heated up food with a blow dryer. . .
