Podcast - Adam Savage Project
Working With The Gates Foundation – 1/28/2014
This week, Adam, Will, and Norm discuss the video Jamie and Adam helped Bill and Melinda Gates make as part of their foundation’s annual letter. Other topics include: buying concert tickets online, the right way to approach someone you admire, and Will misses the ultimate segue.

Facts vs. myths is a great cultural equalizer. Our world is a big place but there are few mysteries…
I literally had to stop watching this on YouTube because of the comments. So jaded and cynical and conspiracy-y. YouTube comments really are the lowest level of Internet hell.
Finally you wrote the word down.
I never understood why you need a segway in your discussions.
I’m so jealous that you get to see Neutral Milk Hotel! They’re one of my top three favorite bands of all time. Unfortunately I’m not able to make it to one of their shows but I did get to see Jeff Mangum last year during his solo tour. I hope they do some more touring after this and maybe make some new music as well.
Still Untitled with Adam!! Woot! 🙂
My ‘celebrity’ encounter: I was going into a model train store in Denver (don’t ask) and the late Gary Coleman was just leaving and going to his car in the parking lot! I made eye contact from a distance and he just smiled and tilted his head in that “Yeah, it’s me” look that you can so easily imagine Gary Coleman making.
Firs time I met someone who I really admired it was… Adam and Jamie.
I was at one of the first Behind the Myths shows in San Francisco and went to the meet and greet after. Having been a fan of theirs since the show began airing, I was a bit nervous.
I shook their hands and said I was a huge fan of their work. The interaction was a little strange since I didn’t ask for an autograph, their faces both seemed a bit puzzled as this clearly deviated from the normal course at these events :p
Since then I have volunteered on Mythbusters a few times, and they really couldn’t be nicer in person.
A note about the premium membership. I’m really excited about the content produced, but holding off and letting it buffer before I plunk down because I will chew through it in no time. Feels like a jerk move but I’m wondering if a lot of others are doing the same?
Love the still untitled podcasts. But why so shooort? =(
To fit a few weeks of podcasts into one day of Adam’s spare time. I’d love for the podcasts to be longer, but since it is either short ones every week, or a long one every four weeks, I think this is the better option.
nice choice on the ending. Woulda liked to see the other 2.
agree. Much nicer with many short ones than fewer long ones.
Keep up the good work guys!
Adam: “What tickets did you buy?”
Norm: “Neutral Milk Hotel”
Adam: “What is that?”
I lol’d.
I said the same thing. Who?
I do believe that Bill Gates is the richest man in the world again as of like last month.
Wow Norm I had no idea Neutral Milk Hotel is back. I just looked it up to see if they’re playing near me, and it looks like their only appearance in Southern California will be at Coachella, and I can’t stand music festivals 🙁
I used to listen to In the Aeroplane Over the Sea almost non-stop my senior year of high school. I didn’t hear about them until two or three years after they released Aeroplane and then went on hiatus.
Urgh, tell me about it. I know the world isn’t perfect, but I hate people who think that everything that’s above them is a conspiracy meant only for profit.
While I agree with Will that the Gates + Seinfeld commercials were funny, that isn’t the most common opinion.
“asparagus” LOL 🙂
I got Neutral Milk Hotel tickets too, for a different city. I have unrealistically high expectations.
I thought Neutral Milk Hotel was a made up band from an episode of “parks and recreation”.
Norm, we had no idea you had such an outsider appreciation for music. As much as we truly love hearing about Will and Adams lives we hear very little of yours.
Personally i think it would round out the show nicely if you talked a little about your life.
Does Adam use hearing aids now, or are those things on the table something else?Or some other person’s? Just curious!
I love listening to this show and I have a lot of respect for Will and Norm, but I wish Will didn’t feel the need to cut Norm off every time Adam asks a question. Adam wanted to know who Neutral MIlk Hotel were and instead of letting the guy who ACTUALLY BOUGHT THE TICKETS answer the question he jumps in and says “some indie pop band from the mid 2000s.” This isn’t a remotely accurate description of one of the seminal indie acts of the 1990s. He does this all the time and it comes off as dismissive. Let Norm answer the question.
I’m kind of in the same camp. A lot of my favorite content has been freely available and there isn’t much there yet for me personally to jump on. Personally though, it’s little stuff that might get me to tip the scales like the ability to change my username. I will pay this website 40 dollars to be able to change my name.
I say that somewhat in jest but I’m sort of another premium in the wings if only because the content isn’t there quite yet. If they decide to do another Lego feature for premium, I’m there.
What is the story behind the knife in Adam’s hand?
