One day R2 drive build? Yes please!
Broke my first Gates Carbon Drive centre track belt this week. Was sprinting away from the lights to beat traffic… only 570km old 🙁
My first thought when I realized that Adam had missed Maker Faire was about Super Awesome Sylvia – it is so great to hear that you guys are looking out for her – just one more reason (out of a list of myriad ones) that you fellows are so admirable. Always be Testing! 🙂
1 Minute of dead air on the audio feed as well.
Adam, Make Fair Detroit is in less than 2 months, July 25-26. We’d love to see you in The D!
Or is there a secret message in there?
After having the privilege of visiting Adam’s shop a while back, I implemented a few of his organizational ideas (e.g. airline drinks cart tool storage) and had a chance to handle the original ILM toolboxes. I am no modelmaker, but boxes of that size and layout would be extremely useful for much of the field service work I do at races. This poster, along with the RPF thread below is more than enough detail and motivation to build my own set.

Thanks for the wonderful news, guys!
glad you were not injured seriously… broken drive train is one of the worst failures ive ever had on a bicycle.
from googling, it appears yours is not a unique experience.
Yep that’s just the thing to finally push me over into getting premium. Giving myself a graduation present with this one!
For those interested in finding out a bit more of the background work behind Maker Faire the Maker Traveler program is a brilliant start. It’s a volunteer program that often means you’ll be setting up tables or chairs but if you put the hours in you can end up doing some really cool stuff. I volunteered this year and ended up on stage with Eepy Bird (Diet Coke and Mentos). You can also get the chance to be invited back as a member of the crew or even win an editor’s choice award…but you need to put in the time doing the boring jobs (as has been said on the podcast so many times before).
Careful, Adam Savage is a Serial sKiller.
I don’t see anything about Adam’s Toolboxes listed on the Premium page……
Next time, can we see Will say, “JE SUIS Will smith” just to get a laugh out of Adam…
Heading to Vancouvers mini maker faire this weekend!!
Hey Adam,
Matt here, one of the co-founders of MegaBots. If you want to get inside a 15-ft tall mech, get in touch. inquiry
I’ve been looking at grainy photos of those boxes for ten years. I too look foward to an email from Tested. Thanks Adam!
Speaking of makers and strandbeests, you should really check out this Theo Jansenesque Bigwheel bicycle:

I want a toolbox poster as well. Just shut up and take my money 😉
Stephen Tobolowsky is not just one of the good ones, he is also an awesome podcaster. The Tobolowsky files is my favorite audio storytelling period. http://www.slashfilm.com/category/features/slashfilmcast/the-tobolowsky-files/
Very personal, hilarious, moving and my god this guy has been places in the world.
