Podcast - This Is Only a Test
Episode 454 – Shakeup in the Stars – 6/21/18
The future of Star Wars and Star Trek is our top story this week, and we have lots of thoughts on the rumors of what’s to come from Lucasfilm and CBS. Plus, new SteamVR controllers, AMC’s movie pass competitor, and Instagram’s move into YouTube territory. Don’t worry, we save all the Incredibles 2 spoiler talk for the end of the podcast!

sorry, the first export cut out Kishore’s audio in the last 30 minutes, so had to re-export it out! it’s processing on youtube now and should be viewable in an hour or so. thanks for your patience!
I think it is pretty obvious if you are going to just bring back an older Patrick Stewart without the rest of the crew it is to expand the end of “The Inner Light” to 13 episodes. He can really explore his role as Kamin as the planet prepares for its end. Maybe he can learn a new song or two on the flute.
In considering why Star Wars does poorly outside of the Extended U. S. ( Canada, etc. ) I think that it is, the “Hero’s Journey” story that it tells is that of a Religious Jihadist. And outside of theocracies like us that Story has become uncomfortable for the rest of the world to identify with. It would be similar to watching a Superman movie where he was a child abuser ( I started to say Batman, but you know “dead Robins”, so not a good example). I don’t know if it is our Puritan derived Schadenfreude, or our cultural need for violence ( <12 years of not being in a war in over 250, Historically the most violent ever ) , or what.
I am sorry but I had to stop watching for a bit after Norm’s paranoid rant about the Tesla espionage. There is no need to feed that kind of negative conspiracy in such a way. I have been a manager of employees that have been caught doing the absolute wrong thing by their peers, their employer and their contract of employment. And the first thing these kinds of people do is take a big shit on the floor and fling it at whatever and whoever they can to prove that they don’t stink as bad as everyone else. There has been no quantifiable proof that Tesla have been shipping cars with bad batteries and for Norm to fan the flame of that non-truth is poor journalism and questionable. I don’t normally speak up at these kinds of things but felt he was out of line as did Jeromy clearly. I expect more from you guys.
Journalism should reflect on all possibilities to inspire independent thought. The more info the better. Tesla will also explore all possible damage even exploring the unlikely. It is wrong to expect only convenient view points. We do this way too much by selecting social media streams because we feel at home with similar minds and viewpoints.
From my experience I can tell you that malicious sabotage from disgruntled colleagues can be small and but continuous or catastrophically obvious but the motivation maybe surprising and completely inaccessible from the outside. Paranoid attention and controls are super important sometimes.
thank you for your input. I will take it for what it is worth. Kind regards. Greg
Alexa in hotels is a very bad idea. Bad idea in general to have a listening device in your home that is always on IMO. There should be many facettes to your life that should not be captured by one data stream or repository anyway.
I just wanted to point out that the 1991 Disney Beauty and the Beast was the first animated movie nominated for Best Picture. Toy Story 3 was also nominated for Best Picture after the category was expanded to 10 nominees. We are still waiting for a winner.
Suggestion: Couldn’t you make a LED-spoilers sign to turn on-off in e.g. a one day build with Adam instead of the whole light changing setup? 🙂
Norm, it sounds like you are wanting a Star Trek show with an Indiana Jones theme.
