Jeremy is right that Trinity does die at the end of Matrix 3, when she is impaled in the crashed ship, just before Neo goes to fight agent smith for the Matrix.

Music chart data collection fundamentally changed in 1991 when Billboard switched to using the automated collection of actual point of sale data for music. Prior, the process was not far off from calling a bunch of retailers and asking what they thought was selling, which was obviously problematic. It’s surprising that the original paper doesn’t refer to this essential change in the data, especially when it both aligns with the timing of the shift they cite and it seems critical to understanding that shift.
