Adam Savage’s Star Trek Beyond Costume

Adam and Norm geek out over the new Star Trek Beyond uniform and pick out the differences from the past films in the franchise. Here are some close-up details for replica costume makers to scrutinize, including what’s behind the seams. Adam of course tries it on!

  1. I think adam will probably find the silicone pasties will be just as visible as that bandaid…My fiancee (wife in 14 days) uses them all the time, they’re meant to curve with the breast and on a guy you’re just gonna have big old nipples…

  2. Unless they tweaked it for Beyond, One braid is for a Lieutenant. No braid generally means ensign/crewman 🙂

  3. Looks good Adam, I hope the Anovos offering will be upto snuff, the prototype images didn’t look so hot, of course, you can never beat the Monster Maroon for pure Trek Awesomeness

  4. Is it just me, or was the lighting really weird in this video? Even though you could see Adam’s reflection moving with him in the mirror in the background, it almost looked like they were on a green screen.

I’m excited about these uniforms. I probably won’t spring for the Anovos one, but since there’s no funky screen printing or anything extra fancy about it, it looks like it’d be a fun project to practice my fabric work with!

  5. That was great! I love these costume examinations- not just showing off pieces but the reasoning behind why the designers did things the way they did.

Any chance we could get a close up shot of the badge?

  6. Unfortunate Star Trek movies are just a good (good yes) action movie these days, nothing really special about it.

  7. I think the only solution that does full justice that wonderful suit would be for Adam to have his nipples surgically removed. Cheaper alternative: use the belt sander.

  8. Looks like the price of the Trippen boots keeps going up… A size US 12 costs ~452USD… 411,00euro’s Ouch!

  9. Loving the new ST Beyond uniforms look so much more like original style, it suits Adam well. Now all he needs to do is make the new Enterprise Captain’s Chair to go, with this costume.
