Wait but is that it? She didn’t go back and find a legit star map and continue the project? Or was this way after she had finished? Cause we didn’t even see the full build process. I’m confused…
– Considering the small size of the item it might be better to limit the star map to one or two constellations.

If there are about 100 billion stars in the Milky Way (give or take), and there are about 100 billion galaxies… then there is probably some planet, somewhere, where this star map is completely accurate.
Simone is way more entertaining than 4 minutes requires. I agree with limiting the star field to one that is recognizable to most. A personalized constellation for one’s Zodiac sign would be a nice gift. But – it’s a great idea. 🙂

I guess that’s one way to find out if Neil Degrass Tyson watches tested, I mean, he spotted the wrong stars on titanic (not that no one else did, I’m sure he’s not the only one) So there is that.

Totally dig it. A personally created and made gift always means more to both the giver and receiver. Simone, being the father of three amazing little girls it makes me happy beyond words to see a talented young woman make a name for herself in the maker/builder community. My oldest two (7 & 4) love watching your videos. They affectionately call you “that robot girl”. And as far a being 100% star map accurate; who said anything about it being the view from Earth? Keep up the great work.

I must politely say that Simone seems like a lovely person and I am sure a blast to work with. However for what I come to this site for I do find her haphazard approach to everything here out of step with what I enjoy this community for. I know its a small portion of the content and I simply need not watch. I think if I came across her work on another platform I’d enjoy the humor but for me here its not enjoyable. I do continue to check in with her videos because I’m not a troll and who knows one day she may find the balance of her humor and take the work more seriously in the presentation.
Simone rocks! I buy the critique of some of the accidental-ness of her work but, frankly, that is what I enjoy in all the Tested team. My favorite moments are when it goes sideways for any of the team. From sideways emerges the brilliance. Simone simply turns it up to 11 without apology.
Anyone who has has projects go 100% to plan, without a few detours, may think differently… that isn’t me.
How about making a light-up planisphere? It’s a cardboard/plastic star map of the whole sky, with a sliding window over the top that marks the horizon. You set it for the date & time, and it shows you what constellations are up at that moment.
It could be wall-mounted! I guess to avoid twisting your neck the “horizon window” would have to be stationary and the map rotate underneath somehow.

358 and Gentlemen, Simone found out that her secret santa was into space things, designed, created and built a star map using a 3d printer and then improved on the design. She checked that she was using open source material and found a problem with the map.
This is what cause to proclaim that she is an embarrasment. His buddy Franco agreed. Really mean spirited and unproductive gentlemen, not in the spirit of the maker’s community.
As a maker, I have to say that people who post shit like that in the community is a lot more embarrassing.
Simone is awesome! Everyone makes mistakes but not everyone owns up to them. She may be the Queen of shitty robots but Adam for example is a king of trial and error. It’s the best way to solve a problem and produce a great end result. If these videos were all completely serious they wouldn’t be enjoyable. It’s great that Tested promotes the fact it’s ok not to be perfect. Just enjoy what you’re making and you’ll probably get a great result in the end.
I am also confused why there wasn’t a full build process shown? Was there an earlier video I missed? Even though its not a legit star map who cares.
