yah, we have sprayed it on foam. works pretty good!
How about some closeups of chrome painted objects? Perhaps something with smooth and textured surfaces, so we can see how it looks up close?
I’m pretty sure that I used a similar chemistry to make a silver-coated flask in my AP Chem class, like 20 years ago.
This also seems like it could be a good way to lay down a high quality silver surface on stuff for making dags on plastic. Or mirrors (which is precisely what this was invented for, turns out!).
I wonder how well the silver film would take traditional patinas.
Looks fantastic, really cool stuff. I assume you use the same process on the sword. Do you have to mask off the area that the lights shine through, or is that more a function of the assembly of the sword? Wondering if there’s a transparency to the paint that something like a close LED could influence.

I’d love to see more videos on this like different types of applications, finishes, how small can you go etc… Very cool stuff.
I was wondering about it pooling in concave areas. It looked like there was a small pool of it on the top of the head, and you went straight in with the chrome sprayer.
Is that something you need to be careful about?

seems like a lot of waste with the W and D sprays, can you collect it and reuse it ? are the W and D liquids hazardous material if so how do you dispose of it. the result is great but there is a lot of wasted product.

At 7:13 what are the two chemicals used in that double nozzle spray gun to do the chrome? is that Solution W & D, again? You say “As soon as that’s done, rinse with distilled or di-ionized water”
Silly question regarding the process…When is “done”…? (when it’s Dry or ‘Immediately’ after you finish spraying the chrome on?)
I cosplay Star Lord and I have an Infinity Orb* that I clear coated with a rattle can of Rustolium chrome and followed it with a rattle can of clear coat and go figure…the damn thing just turned gray and dull just like Adam mentioned, recently. I never noticed that before, but as I look at it, well, darn.
I want to make that thing really POP, so, after chroming is complete, (cured, dry etc), is it possible to wet sand it and make it shine like a mirror the way it does in the movie?
With regards to mounting a spherical shape for painting: Do you think that making a three-nail platform to reduce contact would be sufficient for painting?
*It’s a Resin casting with a baseball inside of it so when I drop it…and I do that quite a bit….it bounces like a giant golf ball…(makes a hell of a sound and is popular with con patrons).
