Bits to Atoms: Starlords Arcade Cabinet, Part 3
For the next phase of the project, Sean and Jeremy head back to the Tested shop to begin prototyping the cabinet chassis and electronics. Based off of his 3D printed scale model, Sean makes a foamcore mockup that gives the team a sense of the ergonomics of the machine. (Start from the beginning and watch the first episode of this cabinet build here!)

Loved the progress, but hoped for a longer video. A week is a long time to wait for 14 minutes and change, but really excited to see the next episodes.
Just the way some of the steps worked out – otherwise the episodes got too long!
Also have to give a shout out to Eric Schimelpfenig – super talented CAD and CNC friend who gave me a bunch of tips on how to tackle cabinet construction. Check out his stuff: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOsIjTsgLyud6dv8QYx1CJg
Man… Guys, I absolutely LOVE this series. What a fantastic project!
Keep up the good work! You guys really inspire a love of making. I’m still trying to find my niche, but I love watching such engaging and encouraging content.
Brilliant!
Another episode, hooray!
Keep them coming – these are awesome!
This is riveting! I can’t wait to see more progress! Great stuff guys
I love that these are the authentic actual discussions and meetings and tests. I remember Mythbusters used to stage a lot of these prep discussions, and only rarely show the genuine process, and it always felt a bit limp. Even amongst YouTuber makers, they don’t usually show this process until after they’ve made most of their decisions. This authenticity, and showing all the stages, really makes this series fun.
Well done! I am really enjoying the collaboration with other creators that bring skills to the table (or cabinet haha). The concerns about budget and trying to stretch money is awesome to see as well. This episode really exemplified why prototyping is important for design processes but also for budgetary concerns.Mocking something up in a cheap material might be annoying and time consuming but it is cost effective and brings up problems before you have set them in stone.
Great job Sean and Jeremy!!
why not have the speaker on the under-side, facing down?
Awesome! And whatever length is fine with me, 14 min is pretty decent and waiting for it to be disappointed? Really? 🙂
Oh. To sad to not have an hour long video. And please show more of the work. Both illustrator/cad and the electronics work. So good series.
Very impressive ! Pretty promising ! This is really exciting and fascinating to witness this being build. Great job !
No video this week? 🙁
Thirsting for part 4! Where are you?
Where’s the next video!? 😭
They posted it for a few minutes a couple of hours ago, but there appeared to be no sound. I refreshed, and it was gone… probably reexporting and reuploading now.
