The Bay Lights Project: Attaching 25,000 Lights to the Bay Bridge

Artist Leo Villareal explains the technology that transformed San Francisco’s Bay Bridge into a spectacular light show. The light sculptor demos the algorithms that control and choreograph 25,000 LED lights affixed to the bridge using custom software. And how are the lights actually attached? Well, a 3D printer was involved.

    Also, that guy sounds quite a lot like Brad Shoemaker every now and then… a Brad Shoemaker with a cold, I guess.

  3. Right on. Also, the 3.5 million donation to this project could havae been better used in helping the hungry!

  4. The cost for the night was 25 bucks. Beauty of LEDs is that most of the bulbs were under 4 watts.
